  1. If he was, he needs to hire that doctor to follow him around on the road this season.
  2. or not. AROD!!!! 6-1!!!
  3. 3-1, ARod with a chance to break it open. My guess is he will shrivel in a big spot
  4. I dont think the road helps them. The Twins are gonna hit this season, you can count on that. For once, I dont think they will pitch like they have in the past. And the White Sox have started out well. You are gonna run into 2 teams that will probably finish with 75-85 wins this week on the road with your pen in shambles. Plus, the sox have never been a good road team. The road is the last place you want to be right now, even with a volatile fan base
  5. Here's the deal. You know what you get in Valentine. He's a control freak who flies off the handle a lot and tries to motivate players by the "break them down and build them up" method. Hiring him for a team that is just full of prima donnas without consequences was bound for failure. If the FO effectively sits on the sidelines while Bobby tries to discipline his players, then the inmates will run the asylum and last September will be this whole season. If you hire a manager, you must support him. It seems the FO is hoping V can adapt to Francona's role. Well, he cannot. Francona was the guy who let the inmates run the asylum, and it worked for 8 seasons. They got rid of him because the guys got too soft and needed a kick in the ass. If you hire a guy to kick them in the ass, but don't get rid of the guys who refuse to hear it, then you're wasting your time. They would have been better off with Torey Lovullo or some new manager to cut their teeth than V just banging his head against the wall. This is a trainwreck from management to the coaches to the players. Might be time to clean house
  6. Once he makes the transition, he must stay there the rest of the yr. I am unsure if this is permanent or just something they are gonna do due to this PPD game.
  7. Which gives us three turns in the rotation with Phelps and Mitchell. The best throwing rookie keeps the #5 spot and the other one gets optioned back to SWB. It's that simple.
  8. Why in the holy hell would the White Sox want Youkilis for Floyd? The White Sox have started out well and Floyd is one of their stalwarts in their rotation. Hell, the Yankees tried to pry him away and they wanted Montero and Banuelos. You dont have those kind of prospects at the ready for a trade. Why would they shift focus from young, top notch prospects to an old, beat up 3b who his manager has turned on?
  9. Cause they just lost Repko and probably are holding onto some bad news on Ellsbury. I'd rather ride with Bird than with DMac and Nate Spears
  10. You cannot fault V for taking out Doubront. He was at 99 pitches. He's effectively a rookie pitcher coming off an injury plagued season and he dominated a great lineup. You have an 8 run lead and you want the kid to leave feeling good about himself to build off that performance. Even the worst pens should hold an 8 run lead through 3 innings.
  11. We have to move Phelps into the rotation. We also must move up either Warren or Mitchell into the other starters role. I know Girardi gave Garcia the dreaded vote of confidence, but the guy doesnt have the movement nor the velocity he had last season. He's sitting mid 80s right now, where he was sitting 88-89 last yr. Also, his splitter has been total s*** and he just cannot survive without all his pitches going for him since he is such a pus-baller. Might be time to just cut your losses. Hughes never refined his game thanks to a myriad of injuries, poor work ethic, and ever changing roles. This has left him as a guy who pitches like he's throwing 96 while actually throwing 91. He needs to go back to the pen, amp up the velo in shorter stints and become an effective swing man for this team. We need him to assume David Phelps' role. In terms of Phelps, this kid has the stuff to be a big leaguer. Throws 4 pitches for strikes, can cut, run and ride his fastball to spots and goes right after hitters. I learned more from his Boston appearance than his prior ones because he didnt have all his stuff, but his approach never changed. Attack, attack, attack. He throws like he's a 10 yr vet as a rookie and he should be rewarded as such. He isnt going to be confused with an ace, and never will be. But he throws like a younger Jake Westbrook, a guy capable of throwing 7-8 innings with good pitch counts and getting a lot of weak hacks on pitchers pitches. He wont be a 10 K a game guy, but he should be able to make the transition. Hell, he's been throwing near starts for the Yanks piggybacking Hughes or Garcia. Time to remove one of them from the equation.
  12. Pineda shut down indefinitely due to residual shoulder weakness. He's due to get a MR arthrogram to determine if there is something amiss in the shoulder that the MRI didnt see. If that is cleared, he won't pick up a ball for a month or more then slowly work his way back in. He's not expected to pitch in the bigs until after the ASB if everything goes well. That means we should start using some of the depth we've built up in the upper minors.
  13. Today was a glaring example of why the sox need a shakeup. Your offense pounds the piss out of the ball, your starter was dominant, yet your pen allowed 14 runs in 3 innings, with your closer unable to register an out. Your starters will start to struggle if they start feeling like they need to throw CG's to win
  14. Freddy and Felix are going to throw 5 innings of 4 run ball and it'll be a battle of the pens
  15. He actually wasnt terrible. He only allowed only 2ER. After the error by Nunez, he imploded in that inning then found it again. But he doesnt put away hitters like he should and needs to go to the pen
  16. Kuroda gets lit up by two light hitting teams yet dominates a team headlined by Albert Pujols. Go figure. His game is deception and location, so when it's off, he's gonna suck. He'll find it.
  17. If you're gonna have a s***** defensive catcher, you might as well have one who can hit.
  18. jung, don't make me be the voice of reason here. AAARGHHH!. Lester is a solid pitcher. He sucked today, he will not suck like this the rest of the way. Atchison wasnt bad. Padilla was in for garbage time, so that doesnt count. There are two things you can take away from this... 1. Your offense isnt as good as it used to be. It will still be top 5, but I doubt it will be #1 again 2. Mark Melancon was a bad acquisition. Other than that, if you think Lester is going to put up another stinker like today for the rest of the yr, then I think you'll be wrong
  19. I told you this the day you guys acquired him.
  20. Pete followed the Yankees on the River Ave Blog. He had outdated knowledge of the minor leaguers and was typically wrong regularly when it came to guys from AAA or lower.
  21. CC allows 3 runs in the first 2.1IP. He then bore down and started throwing harder. He retired 13 straight after that, and didnt allow a hit past the 3rd. Great start, 7.1IP 4H 3ER 1BB 7K
  22. Ho hum, Austin 2 for 4 with a walk today. No EBH's though, the bum!
  23. Melancon is a kid with good enough stuff who shrinks in the spot light. I watched all 3 homers off of him. He looked like a deer in headlights even with a 6 run deficit. He needs to stay in a place like Houston. You do know the Astros are happier than a pig in slop that they actually got something useful for him, right?
