  1. Parker is pitching like a veteran tonight. Keeping the ball down IN THE ZONE and inducing weak contact
  2. BTW, Doubront's WHIP is up to 1.54 on the season and ERA over 5.
  3. Thank you. And that will come with time for the rookie. As he gets more experience, he will learn how to use the zone to force contact rather than try to K everyone
  4. He's been pretty consistently inconsistent with both teams. I have been watching both games, one on a little TV and another on my flatscreen
  5. Scouts see Salty and salivate. Humongous frame, powerful arm, huge power at the plate. But he is one of those guys who just cannot put all the tools together. He didnt get much of a chance in Texas, so Theo probably thought he could give him that and see what happens. Thing is, he is cooked. Poor defensively, below average offensively when it is all said and done, and he's been exposed. Time to cut bait. If the sox flounder in May and end up around .500 by June 1, you better believe Lavs will be the catcher until one is found at the deadline
  6. and the fact that your pitcher is nibbling on a day when the umpire isnt call any corners and against a team that doesnt hit well. He needs to bring his good stuff into the zone a little more instead of setting up every hitter for long at bats.
  7. The umpire has sucked serious nut. No doubt. But his stuff is good enough to where he shouldnt have to rely on the umpires. He should get his stuff into the zone and get outs, especially against this hapless team. Now he's rattled and he's done
  8. then you're an idiot. Umpires are part of the game, you need to pitch around them
  9. Doubront has not done a "great" job thus far. He's shown that he can strike out the entire team and then some, but he is only going to last 5 innings if he is lucky. His stuff is good enough to where he can end at bats early with pitches in the zone. He doesnt need to set every batter up and get them to K. He needs to throw that changeup down in the zone and get grounders or fastballs up in the zone and get popups.
  10. Good to see Hughes pitching around a guy hitting .132 but throwing cockshots to a guy who hit 30 bombs last yr.
  11. This kid needs to stop chasing the low ball
  12. How was that a strike? LOL. That's a joke. Makeup call maybe?
  13. This guy has the most awesome last name
  14. You're playing the A's. Everything goes against them on a yearly basis.
  15. 68 pitches through 3.1IP vs the A's. Strange
  16. I hope Girardi looks at today's start and sees why Hughes MUST be in the pen. Through 2 innings, he has been throwing 94mph and breaking off a filthy curve. Davis took him deep, but so be it. In inning #3, he gives up a 2 run bomb and the FB is 90-91. He no longer has the endurance to run the mid 90s up there every 5 days. But I bet he could throw mid 90s 2-3 times a week in single inning appearances. He needs to see this before we lose to more s***** teams based on his performance alone
  17. I am not shocked it is Iggy. WMB is injured AND they dont want to start his clock in May. My guess is you will see Iggy at SS and Aviles at 3B for the time being
  18. It stopped raining outside Boston a little while ago, although it looks dark and overcast.
  19. Cito catches a lot of flack for being an overdraft, but fact is, the kid is going to be a big leaguer someday in some capacity. His glove sticks at SS and he only gets better there. He's a switch hitter and is a natural righty, so he is working on his LH swing. But the big thing offensively that shows me he has "it" is his OBP. He's only hitting .238 on the season, but his OBP is over .350. To me, that's a kid with the right idea at the dish. He's a speedster capable of being a 30+ SB guy who has a good eye and gets on base. Plus, he started out the yr 1 for 25, since then he's been on fire. I like him. He wont be a top prospect, hell, unless he suddenly starts dropping bombs, I doubt he makes any national headlines, but he projects as a solid gloved SS with a good eye and basestealing potential. He has a future in the pros
  20. Pen WHIP for tonight was over 2, so no, they werent lights out. Buchholz had a pretty solid outing going through 6, but I think V remembered what happened vs the Yankees when he tried to give a kid a good feeling about a start and let him cook too long. He still wasnt around the plate like he usually was and his velo was down again. Still, 6 runs, 12 baserunners, 5 walks in 6.2IP against this offense is inexcuseable. Anyone ready to panic about him now??
  21. Your next 27 days are against absolute s*** offenses. Wow. Your June isnt too bad either. From July on is a gauntlet.
  22. Dominance by Kuroda. CC-Kuroda-Nova is looking like a good top 3. Lets hope Pettitte can make that 4
  23. I think he is gonna have a mediocre May then tear the ever living s*** out of the ball in June once it is warm.
  24. Hiroki Kuroda looks great right now. He's one poorly played flyball from having a shutout right now. He has an ump who is giving an extra 3 or 4 inches off the outside corner and he is hitting it routinely
