  1. Seager is a Yankee target which means outbidding the deepest pocketed team (although one that should get a new owner!). Freeman isnt going anywhere. Marte is interesting. He had his best WAR year by far in a year he missed 42 games and turned 33. I stay away from him as he’s got major risk attached as his legs slow.
  2. Bloom is going to spend, but I absolutely believe he would rather spend higher amounts for shorter term deals. I think he is going to remake your roster and move off expiring assets (Bogey for one) unless they take the Boston discount. If he gets one more good draft/INTL period, my bet is he will start to have the pipeline of players he needs to make the moves he was famous for. Bloom was absolute genius at dealing top prospects for other top prospects and winning the deal. Or dealing vets for prospects and high velocity arms when a prospect was ready. Neidert does that now. Friedman did it before him
  3. FYI, this is going to be the absolute most boring off season. With a lockout all but guaranteed, I expect it to dampen the FA market until labor disputes are resolved. I don't see a resolution passed until right before pitchers and catchers report. My bet is the "hot stove" will be pushed into high gear around super bowl time
  4. There is zero chance you send Dalbec plus for Mountcastle. Dalbec's second half was pretty awesome and Mountcastle's full year was really similar to Dalbec's. I think you need to ride the train one more time with Bobby D and see if he can put a full season together. If his first half was even replacement level, then his final line would have been awesome
  5. Astros haven’t lost back to back home games in over 2 months. If the Braves are gonna win this WS, they need to take at least 2 of 3 at home
  6. Astros aren't out of it at all. With Morton down, Game 5 is a pen game for Braves
  7. The guy threw 15 pitches, faced and retired three batters in a broken fibula. He was apologizing to his team afterwards that he didn’t go deeper into the game! Giant stones
  8. Forgot to post predictions. Braves in 6 Pitching wins out and the Braves have the deeper rotation with McCullers out
  9. MLB tested their pre-tacked ball in AAA for the final 10 days of the season. Results aren’t being shared with the public, but having a pre-tacked ball will be on the docket for the CBA. It makes sense to have a standardized ball for everyone. To say we are going back to what it was is disingenuous. Pitchers have used sunscreen, rosin, pine tar, etc for 100+ years
  10. As a fan who’s formative years crossed late 80s into the 90s, I’ve always disliked the Braves. That being said, I’ve never truly despised them like I do the Red Sox and the Astros. I’m all Braves all the time this World Series
  11. OBP has not fallen out of favor, the issue with OBP is lots of guys sold out for it and live by the three true outcome rule. While they reached base 35% of the time, they also K’d 30% of the time and are train wrecks on rallies
  12. MOY is by League, if I’m not mistaken. Kapler is clear for NL. Cora is clear, IMO, for AL
  13. You’re so paranoid. No, not hot for the Sox to trade him. I understand that the Game of Blooms is attached to no player and will maximize value at all times. If Bloom got what he got for a year of Betts, what do you think he could get for two years of Devers, especially if he doesn’t insist on a salary dump as well?
  14. My dark horse trade from the Sox is Devers. Value will never be higher, but he’s an out of position masher with only two years of control left. His value plummets as a 1b
  15. He got Verdugo, a top 20 prospect and likely your long term backup C for one year of Betts and got to shed $48 mil in dead weight. That’s pretty good
  16. I think he will deal Bogey as well. He turned a s***** Workman on an expiring contract at mid season into Pivetta and Seabold, what can he do with a borderline HOFer (at least trending that way) in Bogaerts? I shudder to think. I think Vaz is gone either way. Aren’t they down to club options with him?
  17. You’ll get better because you’ve got a guy who can literally pick up another team’s excrement and turn it into a major contributor. We all know the Yanks are gonna make a big splash this off-season. What I’m generally terrified of is the smaller moves Bloom makes. The guy seems to win every trade. Even the Beni deal, I know Franchy got DFA’d, but the deal was about the 4 minor leaguers he got. Everyone shat on the Enrique deal, then he goes out and is a 4WAR player and a post season king. He trades for Pivetta and he becomes a reliable pen piece AND a post season beast. He deals for an injured Schwarber and he becomes a key figure on the team. Then you’ve got the manager who pushes all the right motivation buttons to get the last ounce he can out of his team. The scariest part of the Sox right now is they didn’t have tons of realistically moveable assets after last years truncated debacle. They do now, which means Bloom is going to be wheeling and dealing. He doesn’t get married to any player and he wins his deals. That’s scary
  18. Sox overachieved this year and absolutely demolished all predictions. It was a good run. Even in defeat, every sox fan should be happy about this club
  19. And Cashman would get a job in a second, but it’s time to shake things up here. We’re perennially bridesmaids
  20. I think Cora saving Houck and trying to eek out another inning from an erratic Whitlock changes the series. Once Altuve hit that game tying bomb, you could see the air come out of the Sox and the life go back into the Stros
  21. Not true. Been on plenty of Yankee sites and there were regularly contributing sox posters. This is a good forum for all and I have been here a LOOOOONG time.
  22. I have already admitted that. An ardent Yankee fan can never root for the Red Sox unless it benefits the Yanks
  23. Interestingly, Nate wanted a pitch that a robot ump calls a ball
  24. It is absolutely not over. You've got Playoff Nate on the hill in game 6 and ERod lined up for game 7. You will have the advantage on the hill until the pens come in. I said from the beginning that this was going 7. After game 3, I would have been surprised to see it go to a game 6, but Cora was imperfect in game 4 which opened the door for the Astros to rekindle their spark. All it will take is for Baker to be imperfect (that's his status quo) to allow the sox an edge and Mo will go into their corner
