  1. I think Cueto has a serious issue in his elbow.
  2. Who knows. The thing is, these old guys lose it rapidly. DH extends them, but eventually the legs go and they drop from being solid to awful in one fell swoop. I have a similar concern with Roidhead in NY. I think his final 2 months could be his new norm, I hope not, but could be. This is the right time. No more haggling for contracts, you're 40, you're beloved, you have more money than you should spend and you have 3 rings. Sounds like 2016 is a victory lap
  3. Miley has value. And in your current rotation, he absolutely has a place. If all of a sudden, you end up with 5 studs in your rotation, then you can move him.
  4. Zunino is abysmal. No need to get in front of that train wreck
  5. a700, Kenta Maeda is the prize of the Japanese market. He doesn't throw as hard as Tanaka did when he came over, but apparently has lights out command and secondary pitches.
  6. We absolutely should be
  7. Like Meh said, we have a plethora of high velocity arms projecting out as pen guys. A lot of these guys have closer stuff as well. And we have a ready made closer already in Betances, so we'd be dealing from a position of strength. That being said, I don't want projects. I'd hate a Miller for Appel trade. We need an established innings eater atop our rotation. We have immense young talent in our rotation without any history of health. We need one starting pitcher
  8. I like Starlin and would love to have him on the team. The thing is, Gardner is worth a lot more, especially at essentially the same monetary commitment. I still think we should package Gardner and Miller and get something really special.
  9. Meh, we have plenty of young guys with high ceilings and questions. If we're going to trade for someone, I hope it's a more established consistent pitcher.
  10. Cycles, I agree. If Swihart is the main piece, you'd have to gut the system to go with it. I'd say Devers, Moncada, and a B level prospects. If it's Bogaerts, it's less obviously
  11. He apparently hinted at it late in the 2015 season. Maybe the sox were so bad, nobody noticed?
  12. This is the first confirmation we are hearing out of mlbtraderumors. He doesn't seem to be slowing down.
  13. The interesting thing about Kimbrel is that his average fastball velocity actually has gone UP. Most relievers in decline see their velo start to dwindle. He has gone from 95.4mph in his rookie season to 97.3mph last yr, which is a career high. Yes, his WHIP has risen. Yes, his K rate isn't what it used to be. But what you are staring at is a guy whose velocity has risen and the highs he came off of aren't repeatable. In 2012, he had a FIP of 0.78 and he struck out 16.7 per 9IP. To expect that on a yearly basis is dumb.
  14. Davis has the potential to be an albatross. He turns 30 entering 2016. He has been good to extraordinary for 3 of the last 4 seasons, but he did put up a .196/.300/.404 line in 450ABs in 2014. If 2014 was as solid as the years surrounding it, I would be less concerned about his potential to totally fall off a cliff
  15. I highly doubt that Amaro made that deal or at least had the autonomy to pull that deal off. The incoming president definitely had a say.
  16. Hamels was also 31 and had 3.5 yrs (most likely 4.5) left on his contract at $22.5 mil per season. Sale is younger, better and signed for a cheaper amount of money. Hamels deal was about getting quantity of big league prospects rather than a single quantity. They got 4 of the top 13 prospects on the Rangers and in acquiring Harrison, at least got a guy who, when he is healthy (HUGE IF) he can replace some of what Hamels was. All of that for a starter at 31 yrs old signed for another 3.5 yrs at around $80 mil guaranteed.
  17. Kimmi, there is a year in the books now on those moves
  18. No, but he is still a top prospect under 25 capable of manning the most difficult position on the field
  19. I still don't trust Tazawa, but moving him into the 7th inning means he should get some more rest when a starter gets through 7.
  20. Price is definitely getting $200 mil. He's an ace with true durability. He's got size, power, stuff and command. His only issue has been the playoffs, but IMO, that's more utilization than anything else
  21. User Name?. I LOVE THE NEW SIG!
  22. Pro far would cost an obscene amount. He hasn't suffered from the fizzles, he just couldn't stay healthy
  23. Guerra, Margot and 2 others on their way to the Pads. Looks like Koji is a setup man again
  24. The QO is a great method for paying a premium for a one yr contract.
  25. They got him without giving up big league talent. Bravo
