  1. Hitting your spouse is such weak s***. There's a reason domestic abusers and child abusers get beaten and raped in jail
  2. UN?, I see a lot of women who recant their stories to law enforcement, who I have seen for injuries sustained in a domestic assault. Yes, there are plenty of batshit crazy people out there. But usually, if there is smoke there is fire.
  3. I see the grossest of the gross gentlemen, I'm an ER doc, lol. I don't have patience for men who beat on women or children. I hate them all. While they toe the rubber and wear a Yankee uniform, I will begrudgingly root for them to do well from a team perspective. Once they take off the uni, I hope they fall into a wood chipper feet first. That's the beginning and the end of things. Yes, it is hypocritical and yes, I put my fandom ahead of some things. Unfortunately, this guy is allowed to walk free, but the fact that he is allows the Yankees to take advantage
  4. BTW, I don't doubt for one minute that Lugo hit his wife. I also don't doubt for one minute that Chapman hit his girlfriend. That being said, Cashman jumped on an opportunity to upgrade his team without having to give up anything of real value. I cannot fault him there. And if Chapman's addition to this squad puts us in WS contention, then it's worth it. He isn't meant to support the moral high ground. He is supposed to build the best team he can under the Yankees' specific circumstances. That pen will be something out of science fiction if healthy and incredibly deep if injury strikes. Doesn't mean I am jumping out of my seat to buy a Chapman jersey, but I certainly hope he pitches incredibly well for us. Once he leaves in the offseason, I hope he dies in a fire
  5. LOL, so because he was acquitted means he didn't do it? And she egged him on? Isn't that what Ray Rice's wife said? That is weak ass s*** right there. In Chapman's case, the only "evidence" is the 8 slugs in the wall of the garage, which didn't break the law. He never even get charged let alone go to trial, as there isn't enough evidence to prosecute. IMO, he's guilty as hell. As was Lugo, Cordero and the like. This s*** doesn't come out of nowhere. That being said, the law says he can play, he is going to toe the rubber after 30 games and when he's in the game, do you think I'm rooting against him?
  6. It doesn't make a lot of sense from Murphy's perspective aside from injury protection. If all 4 stay healthy, then Murphy is gonna get cut
  7. Didn't stop the sox from signing Julio Lugo. Everyone is a sanctimonious ******* until a talented yet checkered player is on their team.
  8. I'll change my avatar when Pablo drops some weight
  9. Rice was a RB on the downturn. Chapman throws 103mph. We have the pen to get by for the month. I obviously wished it was 49 games or more, but whatever. He misses a month and comes back May 9th. No biggie
  10. 1b is a different task than SS. Less mobility required for sure. And most of the GB hit to you can be smothered with enough time to get a runner at 1st. But as a former SS and former collegiate 1b, there are two insanely difficult things to master at 1b that are unique to the position. The first is receiving the throws. Most people don't see the nuanced foot work involved in getting out to the ball and stretching from the base with either foot. Most newbies to 1b stretch out before the ball is thrown, and that's a good way to not catch a ball, especially if it's off line. Then there's scooping, which is much different than actually fielding a ball, as you're trying to hold a bag. Practice makes perfect. The other thing that's hard to master is the pickoff. 1b doesn't have a set pick off play, like most MIF have. You have to be ready at all times. You also have to avoid getting picked off yourself, especially vs lefties. Learning the pickoff moves of all your pitchers is imperative to keep yourself from getting picked off. Hanley has a leg up as he's already faced grounders as a former SS. But learning the nuances of 1b takes work. We'll see if he does it
  11. 82 without another acquisition. Add a legit #2 for half a season or more and I'll got 86-88
  12. Pedroia isn't moving. He's been either hurt or less productive for the last 3 seasons. He's a short stature, all out middle infielder as well. He's got a lengthy contract as well. He's got value, but you're not returning a big arm for him unless a lot is added to the pot.
  13. I think the health concerns creep in again. Also, he never had the shoulder fixed. How often do you see a major league player miss most of a season with a shoulder issue and come back healthy without any will publicized intervention? Plus, he's playing a new position and his approach sucks. He got his big money, I doubt very highly he lives up to the contract.
  14. I would say this team has a much higher floor than season's past. With a pen as good as yours should be and an ace, I think this team upgraded its rotation enough to be a .500 team as a strong likelihood with the floor being not too much below that. I just think that the rest of the rotation is pretty suspect while removing one of the only stabilizing forces from last yr in Miley and not doing much of anything to an offense that needed some upgrading is the concern. I think your staff ERA will drop by a fair amount, but I don't think the offense can replicate it's successes from last yr as currently is. I know Hanley and Pablo had down years, but I don't think they return to form and are likely to need replacing in season. I think Holt is your 3b and Shaw your 1b on a regular basis by the ASB. Also, one must factor in the Farrell factor. The guy is on the hot seat. He isn't going to stick with anyone who is sucking. SO if Hanley goes out there and sucks it up in April, theres a chance he is on the bench by Memorial Day. Same with Pablo Sandoblob
  15. You can be unconcerned offensively as plenty of fat guys can hit. But defensively is where the concern comes in. Pablo was the worst defensive 3b in the game last year and looked like he couldn't bend over by years end. That's a problem
  16. It is ironic. We have the pen depth to deal with his absence short term and having him around another yr would be great
  17. Sounds like Chapman's punishment is coming. I am hoping for a 50 gamer here. Helps us BIG time
  18. Merloni is a former big league infielder who played for the Red Sox. I think his evaluations should stand up compared to other media members since he actually wore the uniform and laced up the spikes
  19. The media here is absolutely murdering Hanley and Pablo. Hanley apparently looked like a guy who didn't give a s*** in his first looks at 1b and Panda looked even fatter. Good luck with those two this yr!
  20. CC's loss of effectiveness has to do with the knees. The loss of velo is the elbow. Ever since his elbow started barking midway through 2013, he hasn't been the same. They cleaned out the "bone chips" and magically his high 90s fastball is gone. His inability to stay on the field and keep the ball down in the zone has a lot to do with the sequelae of his weight. His knee is shot and it keeps him from finishing his delivery, leaving pitches up in the zone and relegating him to having to fight for a spot on the staff rather than leading it
  21. More spin from the sox. He looks awful and will likely continue to suck
  22. Lol, supposed to be protector. Guess I either got corrected or had a slip of the fingers
  23. If JBJ is platooned, then he can't be your CFer. It'd be really upsetting to the young stud, Betts, to move him from RF to CF so often. And Chris Young is no longer a reasonable CFer defensively.
  24. No, I'll start with their real win loss record. You know, the one not made of theories and relies on actual results
  25. 6 games under isn't .500. I think you're 82-82 maybe 84-86 wins max without upgrading the rotation further
