  1. UN, Lindor looks really good. Correia looks like a future transcendent player
  2. Velocity down for Price and Kluber. Down for Tanaka as well. Cold weather dampens the radar
  3. Castro with a 2 run double in his first AB!
  4. Kimmi, wearer of the rosy glasses and mixer of the Kool Aid
  5. Postponed until tomorrow.
  6. Plus baserunner might be a stretch. The guy has above average to plus speed, but speed is just one part of being a good baserunner.
  7. Maybe he grows. But there will be some significant bumps in the road, especially coming from a position with typical offensive production
  8. Castillo doesn't belong in the majors right now. The guy has skill, but skill only gets you so far. He needs to go down, study pitchers, really take owness of his preparation and needs to come up a new man. Physical errors are one thing, but a bad approach and bone headed moves are inexcusable in the majors
  9. Mitchell was our swing man for the most part. Nova will occupy that role out of the gate. Miller pitched through it today successfully.
  10. Travis Shaw will be the opening day 3b. He has beaten out Pablo
  11. As it turns out, Miller plans to play through it. Also, the sox depth in terms of minor league arms is thin whereas for NY, that is the strength of their farm system
  12. He should be out about 4-6 weeks. Betances slots into closer role. Chapman back for May. Lots of young depth in the pen will be tested early. Nova might carve out a pen role out there depending on how the kids do. Good test for the green arms out there
  13. Chip fracture to non throwing wrist. Probably a 6 week injury. He'll be out longer than Chapman. Gonna be an interesting month. Betances should hold down the closers role. We have a TON of young power arms who are big league ready. It's time to see what they can do.
  14. Also, I don't think Hanley could live up to his contract as a 1b. The thing that just boggles my mind is that Hanleys worth was as a SS or 3b. A SS or 3b with an .850 OPS is worth $22 mil a year. A LF or 1b with the same, isn't. So when they went out and got a guy who's immense value was positional, then thrust him into a less positionally prominent spot thereby devaluing him immediately, it made no sense. Then the fact that he bombed out massively at the new position was the icing on the cake
  15. UN?, I don't think Castillo is very good. I haven't seen the power. His hit tool is inconsistent. His range is solid, but he's made dumb plays out there showing a general lack of baseball intellect. Merloni said it best the other day. The guy has big league tools, but he looks like an A ball player out there. And if you look like you don't know what you're doing, the manager won't trust you. A 3 way platoon tells me a lot. It tells me that DD told him to keep him on the roster, yet Farrell doesn't trust him enough to even give him regular ABs. Chris Young absolutely murders lefties. The only games Rusney will see is when Holt is needed in the infield va a righty (as Young is otherworldly terrible v righties).
  16. They might. Or they might want to get their #2/3 for free. You send them Benintendi, then you're telling Preller that he's on the bag for the whole deal
  17. Kimmi, if the Padres offered you Shields for Pablo and a prospect, I think all prospects would be in play depending on the dollars moving. If you offer a C prospect, then you're eating all of Shields' and most of Pablo's contract
  18. A platoon of Holt, Castillo, and Young in LF? That couldn't possible be a bad thing for you guys, right?
  19. "Hi, AJ, I'd like to offer you Rafael Devers 'mumble mumble val' for James Shields." "Really, that sounds good, let's go over the financials then." "Okay, we'll pay all of Shields' contract. You just have to pay all of Pablo's.." Click.
  20. I think the likelihood of an obese and underperforming Pablo for a now steady while unspectacular Shields is getting more and more unlikely
  21. Most of the good "fat" players in baseball were top notch at some skill that didn't require a svelt physique. Wells had a rubber arm and pinpoint command. Ruth had otherworldly hand eye coordination. Papi the same. The point is, neither of these guys had a position that required speed or quickness in their feet. A 3b does. A 3b must be quick off their feet to nab the ball smashed down the line then get up and make the throw. Pablo cannot do it anymore. His weight and age combo is bad.
  22. You're kidding, right? He's a professional athlete who cannot stay away from the buffet table. He's a professional athlete who's body habits is now obstructing his capability on the field. That is the definition of lazy!
