  1. Nice bomb from the kid. He is gonna be a problem for you guys. Sanchez and Benintendi, the next wave
  2. Also, this Benintendi kid looks like he belongs. Looks like a natural
  3. Our offense is horrible. The fact that we scored 5 on your pen speaks volumes
  4. (looks around and tries not to raise suspicion). Who's the best?
  5. You know what you do with a guy who is retiring at year's end and is hitting under .200 and has an OPS in the mid .600s? You bat him 3rd against your bitter rival. Does Tex need to f*** Joe's wife to fall out of the middle of the order or out of the lineup entirely? We have a kid in AAA killing it at 1b this season. He can't be worse
  6. Sorry, 2.6 off his career high, 1.3 off last year. And btw, his velo last I checked was down 1.6 or so from last yr, so I rounded up
  7. You didn't know he'd be in transition until his fastball came out 2 mph off his numbers from last year
  8. Fowler is really looking like a prospect. 21 in AA, he started out the year more as a doubles guy with speed. His HR swing has come on of late with 5 since the ASB and now his SLG is up to near .450. He has the most EBH on the farm with 44, 10 of those being triples. He's at 20SB, but gets caught a bit too much (11CS). He has the goods to stay in CF long term as well. If there wasn't such a glut of OFers in AAA, he'd have probably been promoted by now. Adams really has come on. He has 9 starts where he didn't allow any runs. He's had 7 starts where he has allowed exactly one run. He has allowed 4 or more runs in a game only 3 times, and only once since April 19th. High end velocity, dominant slider, needs to develop changeup. But he looks like a beast
  9. The Yankees don't have a choice
  10. Farrell had a team with the best record in the AL and has captained them now out of the playoffs. Those who think he'll get fired in season are probably wrong. But if he doesn't make the playoffs, he's going to be canned in the offseason
  11. Moon, I honesty think they're going to build from within. Greg Bird is 23, hit 11HR in 43 games in the Bronx and had an OPS near .900. His sweet lefty swing fits in NY like a glove. They don't need Hosmer. Cain would be a fit, but he's a speed guy entering his 30s. Arrieta is a guy I stay away from too. He'll be a FA after 2017 and he'll throw his first big league pitch under his new contract at 32 years old. We are in an intriguing spot. Most teams who choose to rebuild have little top end talent and have to deal to get that close to MLB ready talent. We already had it. In our deals, we got some pen options who are ready, but the only big prospect AA or higher that we got was Frazier. Sheffield, Tate and Torres are A+ level or below. Remember man, we have Sanchez, Severino, Bird, and Judge who will all likely take the field as Yankees in 2017. We have some fringy guys producing at AAA as well like Gamel and especially off the mound. We need to start seeing what we have.
  12. Your problem this year is that while the AL lacks a true elite team, it has a bunch of very good teams. What has been proven time and again is that your team isn't built to win close games. The starting pitching will give up runs. Aside from the final guy in your pen, they're suspect. You need your O to carry you and when the dog days of summer hit, some sluggishness should be expected.
  13. You have a Jekyll and Hyde situation at catcher, except it is two people for one position instead of two people in one person. One plays garbage D and can hit now with a projection to be all star level for the position. The other has all star level defense now with a garbage bat. You guys have a NOW team. You don't have the time to coach along Swihart, especially with his injury now. You also don't have time to have an utter black hole in the lineup. Right now, Leon is a place holder, Hanigan looks done and Holladay might be your starting catcher for awhile once Leon remembers he is Sandy Leon.
  14. I wonder how long we continue with Hicks in the OF. He is getting regular ABs as Beltran is now gone, but he is looking less and less like a regular big league OFer. Judge should be on imminent callup should he prove healthy. Judge had an ok April with a .287BA and .779OPS but he was terrible in May. The Yankees adjusted his swing and shortened it. In doing so, he went totally nuts. Since June 1- 39 Games (he missed 3 weeks with a knee inj) 143AB 34R 43H 9D 1T 9HR 26BB 37K .301/.408/.566 in that span. The guy is ready. Once he proves his health, he's going to be in RF and will likely be there for a LONG time. That is the really interesting thing about our "transition". We made a bunch of deals for players, but the only guy who was a top prospect who is close to ready is Frazier, and he just got called up to AAA. That kid probably has another year of MiLB work. But we have a catcher in Sanchez who is ready. We have a 1b in Austin, who is ready and once healthy, Bird should take the mantle there. And we have a RF who is ready in Judge. Severino just got his rotation spot back as well. While it is nice to know Sheffield, Torres, Mateo, Rutherford, etc are on the way, we have the youth movement at present going strong.
  15. Yankees are not going quietly into the night. Sanchez hit another double today. He's now 5 for 17 with 3 doubles since his call up.
  16. That's actually not true. The Padres and Marlins agreed to a restructured deal sending Rea back to SD and Castillo back to Miami. The rest of the deal including Cashner remained in place. MLB had nothing to do with that
  17. Tex retiring is expected, albeit sad for me. When Tex was a Jr in college, I was a Sophomore. I was playing college ball and I remember following him after he won the golden spikes award in 2000. Interestingly, we went to the D2 CWS in Alabama in 2001 and had to go through Atlanta, and we took a bus ride from Atlanta to Alabama. We stopped at Georgia Tech and toured their facilities. It was pretty cool seeing the hype for the baseball team. Former guys like Nomar and Payton and then the large poster of Tex. He was a 3b, but destined to be a 1b in the pros and I was a 1b in college, so I was rooting for him. When he signed with the Yankees, I was ecstatic as he was one of my favorite players and one of my contemporaries. Now he is retiring and its just a reminder of how old I am, how long ago that time was. Good luck Tex.
  18. MLB took prospects aways from the sox because they violated the rules on signing bonuses for international players. They never should have been able to sign them, hence they were granted free agency. This is different. MLB won't reverse the trade, they won't send Espi back unless the Pads agree. The punishment here is fines and draft picks. And it wouldn't be a draft pick back to the sox, it'd be a lost draft pick period
  19. No, they can't. They cannot re-do the trade unless San Diego agrees to remodel the deal. What MLB can do is fine them and take away draft picks
  20. MLB is looking into both the Miami-SD deal and the sox deal to get Pomeranz. We all know what happened with Rea from the Pads, but apparently some medical a weren't disclosed by the Pads about Pomeranz that has the sox in a tizzy. No specifics on Pomeranz given, but interesting none the less
