  1. Uh, yeah, not sure what happened there. I hit reply then my phone times out
  2. Signing Duda for $8 mil puts Hanley in a platoon situation and keeps his option from vesting, hence saving $22 mil in 2019. $22-$8 is $14

  4. I think we get Santana this offseason. Perfect fit for this lineup
  5. Harper is in another stratosphere of players. Also, Hicks and Gardner will be FA’s when Harper hits, so we could have Judge, Frazier and Harper on the club
  6. $40 mil for Duda, Nunez and Martinez may be cutting it close. Also, it leaves you absolutely no room to improve at the deadline if you somehow succeed in getting all 3. You also have literally no replacements in AAA to be contingencies.
  7. Duda will be cheap. Guys like him get $8 mil on a one year deal tops. You increase production and save $14 mil overall by getting Duda
  8. Me neither. Frazier is superfluous in this system. Andujar and Torres are ready for 3b, but I think both start in the minors with Headley getting the job out of ST. The Yankees like to have their rookies start hot before a callup
  9. The lux tax for 2018 is $197 mil. It was $195 this year and the last numbers I saw for the sox for 2017 shows they exceeded that by $4 mil.
  10. Benintendi isn't getting dealt. That kid will be a really solid #2 hitter for a long time. I can see that kid hitting over .300 with 20+HR on a yearly basis. I like his game. Beni, Betts, and Devers are untouchable IMO
  11. Slav, you know I like your posts, but this one is really Pollyana He sure looked healthy in the playoffs, but nagging elbow pain usually has a structural reason. Price even said he had a "tear" in there. I anticipate there is significant trepidation and rightfully so, within the organization about his ability to contribute as a starter for a full season. 2016 Rick Porcello doesn't exist. The guy you saw this year is effectively a park adjusted Detroit Porcello. He was a little unlucky this year (BABIP of .324) but he also was a homer factory with his 1.68HR/9IP. He might be slightly better than this year's numbers, but any rotation with him not your #5 is a disservice to your team Smith is back and healthy. He will supplant Reed as the setup man and should be good. Thornburg needs to be considered a hope and a prayer. TOS is a tough one to recover from and the surgery usually requires significant rebuilding of the shoulder as the muscles atrophy. I wouldn't count on him at all in 2018. Devers is the goods offensively. I think he can be a middle of the order bat for you for a long time. Signing anyone long term at 1b for your team would be a mistake. This kid reminds me a lot of Miguel Cabrera in terms of body type at a similar age. He is a thick 20 year old with a really thick lower half. He won't be a 3b for long. I think the days of Pedey being healthy on the regular are long gone. He has some "chronic damage" in his knee which to me sounds like arthritis. Pedey will need to be managed for the rest of his career and having someone who can fill in for 60 games a year is a necessity His first half of 2016 was super fluky. He has an elbow issue and just had back surgery. I would put him on the roster bubble for 2018 He's an intriguing guy for your pen, especially as someone who can go multiple innings That lineup is better, but you might need to add a couple bats.
  12. I was not a member, lol, but thanks for the compliment. But I played with a bunch of guys who made it. The MLBPA wouldn't have an issue with it, to be honest with you. Stanton asked for the opt out clause and it is within his right to use it. What the MLBPA would not stand for is Stanton negotiating a lower salary on an already agreed upon contract. If Stanton declines his opt out and then reduces the years on his contract, the MLBPA will have a fit. If Stanton opts out then signs a contract less than the one he was guaranteed, well, then he made a bad business decision
  13. Future HOF? This smacks of 20 time all star Lars Anderson speak.
  14. The Dbacks were 69-93 last year with similar personnel (they did pick up JD Martinez in July). This year, they had the same record as the sox.
  15. Stanton’s contract Is a conundrum. On one hand, 10 years and $295 mil is a humongous chunk of change. On the other, the contract has an AAV of $4.5 mil per annum less than the actual money left on the contract, so teams keeping an eye on the lux tax get a bit of relief on their books. The AAV is pretty much in line with what I’d expect for Stanton, maybe below market value but the years are the killer. If Stanton opts out, there’s no guarantee that he surpasses the total guaranteed money on the contract even if he beats the AAV.
  16. Allowing Cash to rebuild was the best decision this FO could have made last year. We’ve developed a young core that most clubs are envious of. The big thing this playoff series is showing as well is the potential of Greg Bird. This kid gives a great AB every time. He can hit lefties, he can hit for power, he plays good D. He is going to be a fixture in our lineup for years to come. This lineup has become so deep. We have power from 1-9. Only Frazier is leaving at season’s end from our starting 9 and we have a wave of kids behind this lineup should anyone falter. We will get under the cap, but we will still have money to spend as ARod and CC come off the books as well as a few others. This team could have rolled over when Joe torpedoed game 2. Instead, this young team took the next two games and are poised to face the AL CY front runner in a winner take all game 5. This team has matured far faster than anyone could imagine. They will be a force for years to come
  17. Going BACK, BACK to CLEVELAND, CLEVELAND
  18. Girardi is a FA after the season. He may not want to come back. Either way, if we don't win this series, he has to go.
  19. Our season aint over yet!
  20. Exactly. This young team has outplayed the AL favorites and if it weren't for the stupidity of Girardi, we'd be opening the champagne. I am very proud of this team right now
  21. How do you make it happen? How do you fit that salary in? Would that impede you from signing Betts or some of your other guys long term? Stanton would be a bold move, but you'd be giving up a lot of talent AND be on the hook for a massive contract
  22. When you are facing a superior team in the playoffs, a manager's ability and tinkering could be the difference. Most of the time, it isn't. Sometimes it is.
  23. slav, that's the hard part to predict. If Henry opens his wallet, all bets are off. If he doesn't, then you're asking a hammer like DD to tinker with a flawed team. The other MAJOR question is whether Price is healed? A 200IP Price would do a lot to cover the ills of your team
