  1. He was said to be looking for $4 mil and a geographic preference. He got his preference, but won’t have the money available to sign unless his boy Volpe does him a solid
  2. Maybin has the benefit of being on a MiLB deal, but the point remains. McCutchen was the far better player. Either way, Cashman had talked to stanton about ramping up to play the OF when he came back, but with his ailments, he’s likely to be a strict DH. This would make Frazier entirely expendable to AAA and carve out a role for Maybin as the 4th OFer. With the likelihood that we will have an extra infielder plus Romine, having a guy who can play CF in a pinch and steal bases late in games is not a bad thing.
  3. Symbolic pick of Leiter in the 20th round
  4. Song will be serving his naval commitment. That’s he only reason he lasted to the 4th round. As an aside, I do wish the military academies would allow prime athletes drafted into professional sports to pursue their athletic dreams while placing them in reserve status until their careers are over. It isn’t like Song got drafted into a CPA firm or even medical school where he could practice into his 60s. He’s entering a career path that usually flames out before the age of 30.
  5. Frazier with the bomb. He belongs at DH.
  6. 5th rounder is Ken Waldichuk, 6’4” LHP sitting 92-93 and topping out 95-96 with a plus slider and average change. He sounds like the better prospect between him and our 4th rounder
  7. 4th round pick- Noah Song out of the Naval Academy. Interesting pick. He's a back end 1st round talent but has a 2 year Naval commitment and won't be available until he is 25.
  8. 4th rounder is Jake Agnos, LHP from East Carolina. Short framed probable long term reliever topping out at 95 in the rotation. Best pitch is a good curveball. Ranked around where he was picked.
  9. This kid screams reliever to me. His command never changed from HS and his velocity is inconsistent as a starter. He’s the kind of guy you put in the pen, have him grip it and rip it at 98 and blow guys away
  10. 3rd rounder Jacob Samford. CF from WKU. He’s a big lefty OFer who can be an above average runner. He is from Canada, so wasn’t scouted as a baseball player. Walked on to WKU and won the triple crown in his division. I really like this pick. He’s the rare arrow up collegian with big tools
  11. He will probably sign today. You are correct, though. Where he signs, nobody knows
  12. Dallas Keuchel Rumors WWW.MLB.COM After a seven-season tenure with the Astros that included a trio of 200-inning seasons, an American League Cy Young Award in 2015 and an overall 3.66 ERA, Dallas Keuchel is now a free agent. Below, you will find a list of the latest news and rumors surrounding the left-hander. I do not like this beyond a 1 or 2 year deal. This also really puts a damper on my hopes for Severino this year. I know German is fading a bit and is almost at his career IP max (lots of injuries), but I was sincerely hoping German could bridge the gap to Sevy or JMont in July. I wonder if there is an update on Sevy coming after this should we close the deal
  13. Chavis' biggest problem is the fastball. And in today's game, that is a killer. He has not proven to be able to hit a high fastball. This is in absolute contradiction to almost all other minor leaguers coming up. Chavis is a low ball fastball or a breaking ball hitter. He is gonna see heat in the upper part of the zone until he proves he can hit it
  14. Leiter would have been taken by now. Leiter's number was $4 mil and he had to be in NY. No way he gets that outside the top 2 rounds.
  15. He said he would only sign with certain teams. The Yanks were rumored to be on that list. I guarantee you see an oversign here. Rumor was $3 mil, about $600K overslot or about $516K over the slot plus 5% overage. Will need to pilfer from others
  16. Not a huge fan of either of our team’s drafts. None of the guys picked have the upside to be an impact, game changing player. Every guy picked has a ceiling of a solid big league contributor. When your teams are always in the mix for a division crown, you need to shoot higher.
  17. Second rounder is MIF from LSU, Josh Smith. He’s a bat first middle infielder with now average to above average power for the position. May end up a 2b. Another pretty safe pick for the Yanks
  18. Florial returns from the IL going 2 for 4 with a tater
  19. I like Volpe as a prospect. He has a bit of Jeter in him. High ranking intangibles, good hit tool, great defense, projectable average power. But I liked Callihan more. I go for the hit tool guy every time over the athlete. Volpe seems like more than an athlete due to his now ability to hit, but I do love the big power guys. Hopefully Callihan falls to us at 38
  20. First pick is Anthony Volpe. HS SS out of NJ. Plus defender with solid hit tool and a projectable average power tool. Comparison is Michael Young. He's a kid who said he wouldn't sign with anyone but a northeast team. First round competitive balance pick- TJ Sikkema. Small framed lefty with good stuff, sits around 90, can top out at 95. Both of these players are reaches. Volpe I can live with. I do not like the Sikkema pick
  21. Davidson fell to the A's. Yankees up
  22. Allan and Malone falling due to signability
  23. I am aware he is developing. I am just telling everyone to pump the brakes on the "Feltman to Fenway" bandwagon that started the moment he was drafted
  24. Looks like everyone has pumped the brakes on Feltman and for good reason. The guy cannot throw strikes. 15BB in 19IP with a 6.05ERA. This is why you need development plus talent.
  25. Update one year later. 1. Anthony Seigler- Dominated the GCL after being drafted. Struggled upon promotion to the Appy League. Likely headed for SI in the NYP. He is a catcher and will stay at catcher, so they will take their time with him. Considered a top 5 prospect for the Yankees 2. Josh Breaux- Was hit or miss after being drafted in 2018. Made the jump to long season leagues and has been killing it in his first year. .295/..323/.500 with 7HR in 30games before hitting the DL 2 weeks ago. 3. Ryder Green- struggled in his first action after being drafted in 2018. Will likely debut in the Appy league this year after the draft as he was a HS draftee 4. Frank German- dominated in his taste of the minors in 2018. Jumped up to A+ ball and is holding his own. His command has taken a hit against advanced hitters, but he still has the high 90s heat and is still striking out batters at a high rate 5. Brandon Lockridge- Showing a power and speed combo in his first taste of the long season with 8HR and 10 steals and a .801OPS. 6. Rodney Hutchison- dominated short season in 2018 upon drafting. Was abysmal in his debut in long season and was reassigned to minor league camp. Will be in SI once the season opens 7. Daniel Bies- enormous human being who has dominated the minors and had a 50/12 K/BB ratio in 39.2IP. Unfortunately, he is on the DL 8. Connor Van Hoose- he retired this offseason. Not sure why 9. Mick Vorhof- on the 60 day DL, has yet to debut 10. Josh Maciejewski- held his own in his debut last year. Going to be a mainstay in SI this year 11. Tanner Myatt- might be the best player in this draft and it isn't a slight to the guys above. High velocity, big movement pitcher likely headed to the pen. Only 4 hits in 14.2IP and 16K's, albeit poor command with 12BB.
