  1. Pearce pulled off rehab assignment due to injury
  2. Voit to the IL. There was optimism that he’d avoid the IL, but it makes too much sense to make this move with 6 games left and the ASB looming. He’ll be eligible to return once the break is over
  3. They are calling it a medical condition. It happened a couple days ago, but no press noted here.
  4. The comp system was overhauled precisely to keep the teams at the top from sustaining their success. The fact that teams can only trade for 60% instead of 90% over their cap for this season shows this. The IFA penalties for FA signings also highlights this. The commish wanted true parity. He is getting it in spades
  5. Right now Eovaldi is nowhere, so this might get him back sooner in some capacity. This reminds me of the David Price return where the sox needed a bridge to Kimbrel badly and weren't going to be patient enough for Price to ramp up
  6. mlb had him #18, but I read elsewhere that BA had him #7 (I don't have a BA subscription, so I cannot verify)
  7. They've changed the way the game is marketed to using social media and electronic media rather than having the players do meet and greets. It saves the players' time to focus on preparing for the games
  8. Your offense isn't the main culprit here. What I have noticed about your offense this year is the lack of tack on runs. The sox will jump ahead of someone then go silent for the game. Last year, your team would jump ahead, then start fenceposting the other team until they gave up. Now, they'll drop a 5 spot through 2 innings then go silent
  9. Makes me wonder if they are one of the teams in on the Cuban kid.
  10. The fact that he is 16 yrs old is a red enough flag for me. He has all the tools to be immensely successful. Can he translate it? We shall see.
  11. Or to deal for more. Cashman has never been afraid to deal near MLB or MLB level talent for IFA money. With the fact that we have the #1 guy eating up nearly our whole budget, we will need to do so again. Especially since the Yankees signed the #7 guy (Jhon Diaz) and the #30 guy
  12. Kiley McDaniel from fangraphs says Dominguez will immediately be added to his top 100 prospects list and that he'd have been the #1 selection in the draft if he was eligible. He's gotten a 50 FV grade, which is amazing for a 16 yr old
  13. The showcases are games as well. He is just playing other guys who are gonna get signed to the bigs. While he isn't seeing the best competition on the island, he is seeing all pro level talent which is better than can be said for most 16 yr olds in the states.
  14. I remember when the Yanks did that with Pettitte. He was our 8th inning guy on his pen day. Those were in the days of Steve Karsay
  15. Not at all. Maybe his rapid ramp up at the end of ST caused them?
  16. My anticipation is that the “floating bodies” weren’t there in the offseason. They’d have seen them when they do the MRIs for contract physicals when he was signed. This likely occurred during his ramp up to the season
  17. Nowadays, scouting is more than hype. It’s science. 110+ mph exit velocities, 6.19-6.3 60 yard dashes, 90+ mph throws. Switch hitter, rock solid build who is a baseball rat. The kid checks all the boxes for me. I wonder if Cashman and Co have him take the traditional IFA route and start him in short season for 2020 or if he looks good enough, goes right to Charleston
  18. Not a down year at the top. Puasson, who is set to sign with the A’s, was considered the best all around prospect coming out of the IFA ranks in 10+ years. That was until the Yankee signing, Jasson Dominguez, made the rounds. He’s said to be a Mike Trout style player and I’ve read SRs say he’s the best prospect to come out of the DR that they’ve ever seen. It’s definitely not a down year to see two talents this good come out in the same year
  19. It is unfair, but it’s awesome to add a kid of this caliber to this system. He’s going to be a top 100 prospect out the gate
  20. Sox are moving him to the closers role when he returns
  21. He’s nicknamed the Martian because nobody believes he is of this world. He’s a beast
  22. 27 yr old. No cause of death. Wow, sad
  23. There is no “panic button” to push. The late signing free agents have signed. The Sox don’t have a minor league system to overwhelm anyone into an early trade. The Sox don’t have the payroll space to give cash relief to another squad. At this point, the Sox need to throw offers out there that are competitive and try to offer the best package available. With only 8 teams out of the race (I added the Mets to the Jays, O’s, M’s, Royals, Tigers, Giants, and Marlins), there aren’t a lot of options available yet. The Giants have three very good relievers who are gonna go for a pretty penny. The Royals have Kennedy, who has a ridiculous contract for a newly minted reliever. The Mariners have nothing notable in their pen, as do the Marlins. The Mutts aren’t dealing from their pen after they went all in this year. Shane Greene is gonna move from Detroit, but he’ll bring a king’s Ransom. The O’s have Givens and Castro, but both have underperformed. The options right now are either not improvements or way too costly
  24. Mejia is getting ripped in the minors. His walk rate isn't terrible for a high velo reliever, but he is getting battered with a near .300BAA. He's also been remarkably consistent in his suckitude. He had a 5 game stretch earlier in the year where he didn't allow a run, but he has only pieced together two 3 game scoreless runs since and he has allowed multiple runs in 4 of his last 9 appearances. He is a gas can
  25. Hence the problem with using average stats. The sox pen had a better ERA than the Yankees pen going into the series by a few points. Fancy that, the sox pen must be better!! No, Boone is entirely fine with hanging someone out to dry if we are getting wiped out. There are a lot of bad innings mixed in there. Throw in the implosion of Holder and the abysmal initial start for Green and you have a high ERA. But if we have a shot at winning, the quartet of Kahnle-Ottavino-Britton-Chapman have been lights out. If we get a lead, we have a very high percentage of winning the game. I think the number I used was 88%. We have an 88% hold/save percentage. Meaning when a lead is handed to the pen in a hold or save situation, each pitcher does their job 88% of the time. That's really, really good
