  1. The night show on EEI last night talked out buying rentals for minimal prospect outlay then selling Betts in the offseason. He makes a good point. If DD goes to Betts with a realistic contract offer (8yrs $240 mil or so) and Betts turns it down, he should 100% be dealt. No point in having a swan song with him when he can walk for nothing. Think about it, when Theo was GM, Betts would walk for a 1st rounder and a 1st supp pick. When Ben was GM, Betts would walk for a 1st round supp pick. If Betts walks after 2020, the sox get a 4th round supp pick. Not even worth holding onto him in that case.
  2. Most professional baseball teams have a 3 hour rule, meaning you arrive 3 hours before game time. Most of the great ones arrive 4 or 5 hours early and do their study while they're getting their bodies worked on
  3. I think Estrada still has rookie eligibility. If he doesn't, we add him to an impressive list of reserves in AAA who are still prospects. Wade, Frazier, Estrada, etc
  4. When facing a 9th inning deficit, outs are paramount unless you can sacrifice an out for the tying run. If he drove in the tying run with an out, then it’s successful. If you can move the tying run into scoring position with an out, then it’s successful. If it doesn’t do either of those two things, then it’s not a successful out, even if it drives a run home
  5. Guardians have the easiest path to the WC. The Sox have certainly painted themselves in a corner
  6. We got 5 and German was dominant. I’m good with that. We’ll gain yesterday’s game back from you and the Rays!
  7. Sale with no velocity at all today
  8. ERod and Beni seem like the classic change of scenery guys, IMO. I could see ERod leaving in FA or in a deal and becoming an absolute beast.
  9. Atlanta is pretty loaded in their OF with Markakis, Acuna, and Riley out there. Camargo had a 3.7WAR season last yr and has been a bench duty bat this year. He is also 25. You're not getting Toussaint. He's a 23 yr old fireballer who is in their pen right now because they have other options. I'd assume the Braves would aim higher. A package of Toussaint and Camargo might get them a top notch starter to pair with Soroka atop the rotation. The Braves saw a big drop from Folty, Gausman has been ineffective and injured and Keuchel has shown absolutely no ability to strike people out. I wouldn't be surprised to see Toussaint and Camargo go to the Mets for Wheeler.
  10. If he is throwing off a mound and will return in the pen, he will be an option for the sox out of the ASB
  11. Error on Lemahieu and what should have been a routine fly ball to CF that falls in for a double due to the shift and the save is blown
  12. I heard two stories of Stuart. He once claimed he lost a groundball in the sun and his license plate was E-3
  13. why do you care if your guys make the AS team? The way the Yanks have been this year, its another chance for injury
  14. They're almost identical in WAR
  15. LoMo has been raking, but AAA is using the big league balls and some of the stats are just insane. Mike Ford has a 1.1OPS in AAA and he's not very good
  16. Thornton has a funky delivery and he had us off guard the first time we faced him, but we squashed him after that. The sox are having no such trouble this time. Wow, they're missing nothing
  17. He's doing the Kate Upton horizontal workouts. Fountain of youth
  18. Might be time to relieve Thornton, just maybe. He has not missed any bats
  19. Is that the best you got? You have to have better, cmon now
  20. Vladdy just missed that one
  21. You have to see the play Gleyber just made. Holy s***
  22. Fangraphs had him at #7 as it turns out
  23. Whenever I start threads in the sox side, I stick to the facts
  24. The sox continued the hot sticks.
  25. Volpe and Sikkema have to be on the list.
