  1. Beckett has been the recipent of a ton of run suport. He has a 5era. Pedro could have a 4 or less era in his sleep. Pedro wins the game vs Cleveland when Shoochoomooshoo hit the grand slam.
  2. I agree ther is a discripancy. But to say that he wont be efective in the AL because he shanged his pitching style is wrong. Listen, I know you are angry today, but keep your scenses (like I made about Pedroia earlier btw). Pedro mad the diference between his off speed stuff and his fastball much larger so he could still get life out of his fastball, Moose did the same thing and he is dominating.Pedro would still be winning in my op, but we will never know.
  3. I don't understand why fans are so worried about luxury tax. It isnt our money that they are spending. All that should matter is what is done on the field.
  4. Pitching is pitching. Pedro did something that Mike Mussina did as well, adjust to age. He may not be as dominant, but Pedro would still be a .600-.700 pitcher in the ALE right now. If you want to make a case based on durability, then you will have no arguement from me. If you want to say he won't be any good, I'll argue.
  5. good point on Pedro. He shoud have been kept.
  6. As for the Beckett trade, take a look at what his replacement is doing. Anibal Sanchez is really playing well in FLA. The Beckett deal would be a total f*** up for this yr if Lowell wasn't worth his weight in gold right now.
  7. lets see, after the tradng deadline, a pitcher who is signed through nxt yr and nobody in the minors wo can be any better. You woont see anyone take his place until the offs-eason.
  8. Listen man, Papelbon is the 2nde best closer in the MLBthis year. He has blown only 4 saves in 34 chance. He didnt lose the game, and sometimes you have to pick up your closer. Don't blamre him.
  9. Greg Norton?? Who the f*** is Greg Norton??
  10. you have to put that into perspective though. The sox were up 4 games in the loss column a month ago. Now they are down 2. Either way, this month is the sox chance to take ground on the yanks. The yakkees have a very tough stretch coming up. The sox have a similar horruble stretch next month. If the sox go into september downa few games, they may not be able to make it up.
  11. do you walk ortiz here? I think so
  12. I saw smoething in the news recently. Of the 4 teams fighting for 2 spots, the yankees have the toughest august and the easiest september. The sox have the easiest august but the toughest september, going off what they called a weighted stregth of sched.
  13. The Red Sox have been a .500 team of late. The White Sox have been a .375 team in their last 24 games (9-15). Their piching isn't as good as it was last yr either. Whoever's pitching decides to show up down the strech will win the wild card. a sox will win
  14. No, I am saying that the 5th startr spot hasn't been death to the sox like it has been seen like. It's the whole rotatin not steppin up.
  15. Since the Royals seres the red sox have gone 8-8. I see a loty of people talking about how bad the sox fifth starter is and that they need to get a new one. You need to look at the numbers. Over the last 16 games, in the last 4 starts by guys who will rotate into the 5th spo in the rotation (Gaberd, Snyder, and Johnson), they have the had the lowest era of any1 who has rotated. Look ath te numbers. Schilling has an era of 5.76 in his last 4 start, Beckett a 6.5ERA in his last 3, Lester a 6.75ERA in his last 3, and Wells has a 7.6ERA in his two. The combined 5 hole ERA over their last 4 starts is 3.91. It is nt really the bullpen's fault that they have to be perfect because the starters arent getting it done. If the 5 hole stays the same and Shilling, Beck, and Lest start pitching like they were before, then the relief will be fine. If the top 3 startres continue to have an ERA in the low 6 area, then no bullpen can help the sox then.
  16. The sox have a very favorable schedule in August, but they have the toughest September schedule of all 4 teams that are fighting for 2 spots. If they are gona get this done, they wil need to take advantage of the yankees brutal august and take the majority of the remaining 9 games with the yankee. As for the red sox focusing on the future, I feel as if they have no big prospects to move. Lestr, Paps, Hansen, MDC are in the bigs. Hanley, Anibal are in FL. Pedroia is not adjusting as well as one would have hoped in AAA. The other guys are at least 2 yrs away or they were drft picks this yr that cannot be traded until next yr. I dont think they had the pieces in the minors to get a big deal done and they surely didnt want to detractr from what they had going on in the bigs. I do not know why they didnt at least get a guy like Byrd or Lidle or Lieber, at least someone who can go 6 innings a game. It would really have helped th epen and it wouldnt have cost much.
  17. The Braves will want a lot for Andruw. He isnt signed for a ton of $$ for his production and he is still young. Oswalt will never make it through waivers so the sox turn and switch deal wont work.
  18. Beckett doesnt trust his stuff enough. He has ace stuff, but anyone with patience seems to get his number...
  19. Leeberthal is a good D catcher, rigt? The sox need d more than anything else from cathcer
  20. tek is the captain, irregardelss of his numbers, his worth is more than just his measurable prodcution...
  21. don't think a deal including Lester would help. They needed 2 more starters who could go many innings and keep the team within strikin distance. Lidle would have done the trick. Lieber will still be available on the waiver wire. I have a feeling Wells and Johnson will not be there for long. Wake's return is key.
  22. you really cannot expect to win witn 2 holes in your rotation
