  1. Push the time line back 8 years and it's 5-4. Push it back 20 years prior to that and its 7-4. How far back you wanna go?
  2. Nice cherry picking of timelines. 27-9. Still the hammer vs nail. And it’s gonna be a brutal year for you, so enjoy that
  3. It should be pretty obvious by now that shedding payroll is offseason goal number 1 and winning has become secondary
  4. Those loose bodies are typically not a “mess up” but are broken off pieces of scar tissue from prior surgery or are broken off pieces of cartilage from the trauma of pitching
  5. The most important question entering 2020 is: Is this team a title contender? If the answer is no, then the next question is: Are the Sox doing everything in their power to prepare their team to return to title contention? Answering yes to one of these questions is enough for a fan to get behind. Two “no”s and you have a problem
  6. What about a full career of being a sub average starter?
  7. Too many variables to make a real prediction. A fully healthy Sox team crushes that. An injured team in a rapidly improving AL likely gets crushed by that number. I’m gonna take the over, but not by much
  8. If Kopech is healthy, he’s gonna be a force. I’m less impressed with Allen. The way the Rays utilize Beeks will likely lead to pretty solid performances. They use him as a bulk guy, therefore missing the top of the order first time through and he’s usually out of the game before he has to face the top of the order twice
  9. I’m still waiting for the other shoe to drop here. This Yankee team is deep. That depth allowed us to win the East going away with a record amount of injuries, so I’m not a huge fan of depleting it. But there comes a time when you need to chose which guys to deal when their value is high before they start getting paid a lot of money and end up less valuable or risk losing them to FA. There is too much smoke here for me to assume nothing is gonna happen. It seems Cashman is looking for a cheaper but still dominant option in the pen. I know Hader is the hot topic, but I wonder if there’s another guy that can be had for less. Maybe a guy like Brad Hand (not cheap, I know) or even Leclerc from Texas (who sucked first half but dominated second half). It certainly seems like this is a probability.
  10. He’s not saying that. He’s showing you the now impact of the deals made to win that title. The now impact is rather substantial. Take a look. 1. ERod 2. Price (free agent) 3. Eovaldi (also free agent, didn’t get dealt for Beeks) 4. Kopech 5. Beeks 6. Allen Closer/Setup- Buttrey C- Vaz 1b- Shaw 2b- Moncada SS- Bogey 3b- Devers LF- Beni CF- Margot RF- Betts DH JD Util- Dubon That’s a pretty deep team. But it was worth demolishing it to win a title. Acknowledging the worth but seeing what could have been is entirely appropriate
  11. The brewers are built on a strong pen. Hader offers them flexibility in their relief roles that they need with how their rotation is built
  12. Age wasn’t much of a factor. His velo fell by 0.7 mph, so maybe that’s age, although it’s right around where he was in 17-18. He was throwing smoke out of the pen, so it isn’t like it wasn’t there. He threw less fastballs last year, although he was successful in 2015 with a sub 70% fastball rate. He peaked above 9K/9IP in 2018 and fell to 7.8 last year. But that’s exactly where he was in 16-17 when he amassed 6 WAR. His walk rate was almost exactly what it was in 2016. The only major change was HR rate. Was this super ball? Was this age? Not sure, but the peripherals and his performance point to a rebound. I’d be more concerned if his velocity dropped 1+ mph or was way below his effective velocity or was in a range he’s never seen before or been effective at. Someone’s gonna take a chance on him. We will have to eat some money. My bet is we get IFA money back.
  13. That White Sox team is headed for a much improved standing in 2020. Rotation of Giolito Keuchel Gio Lopez/Cease Kopech Lineup of C Grandal 1B Abreu 2B Madrigal SS Anderson 3B Moncada OF Jimenez OF Mazara OF ?? DH EE That’s a good team. Getting Grandal helps with their young staff. Adding Keuchel brings in a veteran world champion innings eater. With the Guardians retooling and the Twins potentially bei a flash in the pan, the White Sox are clearly threats to make the POs.
  14. Sox fans are seeing the two different styles and with DD’s history here over the last four off seasons, I can understand the frustration. DD was impulsive. He wanted the best, he got the best, no matter what. Bloom is cool, calculated, no rush, willing to wait even if better deals pass him by. He’s the opposite of DD and will take some getting used to
  15. Steamer also projects based on role, and Happ doesn’t presently have a rotation spot. Here’s the deal, Happ was a reliable arm through 2018 essentially being a 3 WASr pitcher for four straight years. He’s on a 1 yr deal with a vesting option that’s easily controlled. If Happ does well, then the option is a boon. If he doesn’t, you cut bait and don’t worry about 2021. I think dealing Happ is going to be pretty simple for the Yanks. We Don’t care about return, just salary relief and we may be better off waiting til ST when some starters inevitably go down for the year
  16. A buyers market means there’s a surplus of sellers and the buyers can get a better price. So in effect, you don’t want a buyers market for Price. I honestly think Bloom is trying to get Price 2018 level return from teams and he’s probably got to get that to move him, realistically. I also think that the market doesn’t support that as Price is coming off a bad season for the most part with poor health and surgery to his throwing wrist. The one thing Price has done the last two seasons is start strongly. If the Sox deal off Bradley and keep their pitching as is, they can still sneak under the lux tax limit if they move Price by July 1. But, if the Sox are in playoff position, then it behooves the Sox to keep the band together. I actually applaud Bloom for not selling low.
  17. Merry Christmas you filthy animals. May you all avoid me in your travels and return happy and healthy
  18. Hill got 3-48, he didn’t earn 3-48. My bet is the Dodgers would have rather not have signed him for that.
  19. Ridden hard, put away wet
  20. Lol. Kepler isn’t going anywhere
  21. True, but you still need to build a team
  22. This made me lol
  23. http://i.ebayimg.com/images/i/221653469415-0-1/s-l1000.jpg
  24. That's what I'd expect
  25. Getting back to Price, if I was Bloom, I would talk to the Angels and ask for Patrick Sandoval. Just turned 23, Lefty, four pitch mix guy. Dominant in 2018 after being traded by Houston. Held his own in 10 games last year in the bigs, but got shellacked in AAA Salt Lake (albeit extreme hitters park). He's a guy with upside and huge K numbers who you could throw in as the 5th starter and at least hope he can develop into something. Might have to eat extra cash to get him, but it would at least satisfy as a talent for talent deal
