  1. Reason: pregnant. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2006/basketball/nba/12/07/sparks.wnba.ap/index.html I just find it very funny, I dont know why. I think I lost all respect for women's basketball after they tried to strike because they wanted to be paid like the men. Actually, I think I lost all respect for the WNBA when I was conceived, which was well before the WNBA even existed.
  2. well, if you believe the folklore, Nixon's arm was held together with duct tape and shards of glass. He could also s*** roses on command. As a matter of fact, the folklore said that there was no theory of evolution. Just a list of species Trot Nixon has allowed to live.
  3. Justice has been served.
  4. ah, the news about the deal being on hold was breaking when I headed to work for 2, but now that I am home, I see this deal seems to be dead now.
  5. the only 2 differencea iare that the yankees have been able to absorb the horrible signings and get just a little bit more out of who they get than the sox did. AND, the yankees hang onto their players for the most part (Pettitte not withstanding). There are certain parts of your team that you cannot merc out, and for the yankees, it was Jeter, Posada and Rivera. For the sox, that was Petey and Damon, and it was obviously a factor these last 2 yrs (1 for Damon). Another minor difference, is that for all the fanfare the sox minor league system has gotten over the yankees for the past few yrs, the yankees sure have produced more of their own talent. Proctor, Cano, and Wang to name a few were recent callups from within their system (proctor was traded for when he was still a minor leaguer). While the sox just have Papelbon and a few maybes right now.
  6. Buchholz refuted the claim that he failed a physical and currently the deal is in a holding pattern. From what was reported, this morning the houston papers got a woody and posted that the deal was finalized. Later, SI said that the deal was never finalized, but is likely to be finalized in the coming days.
  7. he isnt a key piece. If Hirsch fails his physical, then this deal is caput.
  8. Green maybe. Hargrove loves Sherrill, I dont think he'd part with him.
  9. crunchy, um, Crisp's career high OBP was .345 I believe. Expecting it to go to .390 may be pushing it a bit.
  10. more due to lack of average. Varitek and Coco will be similar to last yr (IMHO) and I am predicting a precipitous drop in Lowell's production.
  11. the criticism is that Matsuzaka may make 100 mil OVER 3 YEARS. THAT is insane. 100 mil over 6-8 yrs is not as insane now. As for buying him out, the question is, can Boras go to Seibu and say, "Here is 25 million dollars, please release my client." Nobody would know, although everyone will speculate and Matsuzaka would be a FA.
  12. Gagne left the sox meeting without a deal. It looks like the sox are moving towards a deal with Dotel, which is an even worse move.
  13. arroyo would be getting the entire worth of his contract per season.
  14. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2689724 4 yrs 45mil for Gil f***ing Meche??? Those royals really do suck dont they. LOLOLOL
  15. Tick tick tick. I think I hear Gagne's arm ticking. Good sign or bad sign? Guess it depends on how long the clock will run.
  16. Boras does play the role of the older gay male rather well now doesnt he.
  17. No, the cubs were NOT on Drew's trail. Once they signed Soriano, they had too many OFers for spots. Getting Drew would have been another annoyance. But you should thank the cubbies for making the sox eat a few extra mil if they truly did drive up the price.
  18. Just remember this seabeach. There were no big signings in NY as far as offense. They filled their holes by filling the hole of Gillick in Philly. Their biggest signing will likely be Pettitte who essentially made it clear he was going to NY or HOU and HOU passed. Next season, RJ and Abreu are likely gone. That leaves an open outfield slot and 32 mil of cash lying around for 2 spots, one of which will be filled internally. If you think the yankees wont be bidding on Vernon Wells or Jones, you will be out of your mind. This yr was the year for the sox to land a big bat, because they didnt have to worry about big brother looking over their shoulder. Next yr, they certainly will be.
  19. yep, he will . What a dolt. NOBODY will sign him now because the other team will lose a first rounder for him.
  20. sorry, lots have happened in the past few minutes and I wanted to get it on here as fast as I could.
