  1. Kilo, chill bro. Boras is making the decisions here. I think that is readily apparent in the negotiations. Dont try to kid yourself. Boras is the best bluffer in the game, and to be a great bluffer, you need not be afraid of what would happen if you fail. Boras is prepared to send this kid back. No amount of pressure will change that. Also, if Seibu is already spending his money, then it is pretty obvious why they are going bankrupt.
  2. dont think they are dumb enough to do that.
  3. I am saying that Boras couldnt give 2 shits if Seibu is spending money. And what does it matter. If no deal gets done, then Seibu is up the creek without a paddle. Boras wont try to buy his freedom. He will likely take a lawsuit or at least threaten one. Remember, Boras has the capability to challenge baseball's anti-trust exemption. If he gets enough momentum in that direction, MLB will be a pawn in his hands.
  4. two totally different situations. Gagne had other options and that was the best he could get. Dice K has one option in the states. Plus, Gagne is coming off some severe injuries, while Dice K is healthy.
  5. If Boras has his way, Seibu gets nothing and everything goes to Dice-K.
  6. tomorrow morning is the end of it all.
  7. their MRI facilities are in Boston, and getting an MRI on one days notice is impossible unless you own the facility.
  8. gordon edes guess is that the deal is 5yrs 40mil. That wont even come close. http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/extras/extra_bases/2006/12/zero_hour_appro.html
  9. With the sox docs my friend. A baseball physical involves MRI's which take a while to do and even longer to read. It is an all day process, and the sox facilities are on the east coast.
  10. Marcus Giles is a risky proposition. He is a guy who will be asking for and would get the moon in arbitration or as a FA, but he has nosedived lately.
  11. No, I think the sox have to look at what they have before they really start dealing. They have a lot of young talent on the roster coming off bad yrs or having their stock low. Paps is the only guy with high stock and I dont think anyone on here will advocate dealing him. Nabbing a closer will force the sox to sell low if they deal Crisp or WMP, which is something that leaves mday morning quarterbacks fodder to nail Theo to the wall. Instead of packaging a bunch of prospects together and getting a closer, then watching those guys blossom in another location, they should sell off a big entity for multiple parts and get what they need. Like I said, I NEVER would have traded Manny at the beginning of this thing, but now that the only reliable or semi-reliable relievers are gone and theo only nabbed a lefty specialist japanese pitcher, they may be left with no other retort.
  12. At the time of the signing. Of course there is retrospect, but the sox were bidding against themselves for a guy who has missed a ton of time on multiple occasions. I am only reporting what I read.
  13. I stand corrected. All of the timers for the Matsuzaka deadlines indicate that Friday 12am ET is the deadline. Not thursday. So the sox have one more day of negotiations to get this thing done.
  14. My idea, I dont really have an idea for the sox. My idea would have included Danys Baez or Eric Gagne. Now that those 2 are gone, I would be lost for words. My idea would be a trade of magnificent proportions, with Manny likely being the big chip.
  15. well, then I think you are just being a little sensitive here. Take some midol and time will heal the pain.
  16. nobody should do this. Gonzalez cannot stay healthy and they refused to provide medical documents to the braves in their negotiations. At the same time, Proctor is more valuable IMO than Gonzalez and throwing Cabrera in would be assinine. You can have him.
  17. I think the last trump card they had was hoping to talk to dice-k. Now it is them and Boras. That's all. They wont win this without giving in. Tonight is the true deadline. Theo wants a physical before consummating a deal and that will take a day. If nothing by tonight, you can return that matsuzaka jersey you bought, cause he wont be coming to botown.
  18. if you had to pick one for a guy to have, this is the one. Even when it metastasizes it is still nearly 100% curable with all the new drugs available. Good luck man, get well. Health first, hockey distant second.
  19. I think Boras is doing this kid a favor financially, but you may be right. The rep hit will be huge. Granted, Boras has never been one to shy away from being portrayed as the villain, so maybe he sends Matsuzaka back to Japan with everyone hating him, then come 2 yrs from now, Boras is again his client when he negotiates the mega deal. Also, one may have to consider the rumor from a month ago, when there was speculation if Matsuzaka even wanted to play in Boston. Everyone knew he wanted to be a yankee, now he is being negotiated with by their enemy. It is interesting to watch this fold out.
