    picking NY is smart in the east. But I have a problem with what Phillips and Gammons are doing. They pick NY at the beginning of the yr so they dont look like homers. Then they act like stone cold homers every day after that.

    I agree with you there MannyHOF. Oden is the guy with the biggest upside because not only could be be an absolute offensive force in the middle, he is already a dirty defensive presence and an agile, strong big man.

    good post. I consider the Schilling scenario over. Unless something changes drastically, he is gone. Think about it. If he has a s***** yr, the sox wont want him. If he has an average to solid yr, he will get a multiyr deal from an NL team. I think the sox want to go with a young core and if Buchholz handles AA and Lester is strong in AAA, then you will see the "big three" of this yr mixed with Lester and Buchholz to have a rather young starting 5.

    yes, the sox would have to give him an incentive. I would assume that would be considered lessening the value of a contract.

    Regardless, if Helton has hardly any market right now, and he gets worse to the point where the sox want him gone, what makes you think he will have a market? If you get him, you will either be happy with him or be stuck with him. There wont be any dumping.

    Pedroia's track record should bear out eventually. I agree. He will be a pitch grinding machine over time. I think it will take some time.
