    I think Beckett gets DL'd. This is a problem that, if it is not healed properly the first time, could take a whole lot of time to fully heal.

    I must say, I havent had a feeling like this since the yankees were 11-19 in 2005. 8 games out is a sufficient enough cushion for your team to hold us off. Assuming Beckett's injury is not serious and you dont have any other pitching injuries, you guys shouldnt lose your lead. What is absolutely dumbfounding, is that our pitching has been very solid lately and we still cannot gain any sort of offensive consistency. Pathetic really.

    he has some serious stuff though. Guthrie was throwing high 90s with a very solid curveball. He may be a shitbum overall, but if his stuff is working, he'll be tough. It is working today.

    You do not have buchholz come up. No way, no how. He has already skipped a level (A+ ball) to get to where he is now. You want him to effectively go through A+, AA, AAA, and the majors in 2 months time? He needs work. Dont rush him.

    I agree with the runners on base argument. Dice has a lot of deception in his full windup with the pauses and the slow slow windup then BANG. 95mph. He loses that deception in the stretch.

    see my post above. When you are talking about an avulsion fracture, you are talking about when there is undo stress pulling a tendon which causes the bone it is attached to to pull away and fracture. When talking about the skin, you would say that it is when there is undo stress on the skin pulling it away from its normal attachment. It sounds like the same mechanism that you create a blister. But that is typically when you separate the layers of skin. If he had a true avulsion, he may have pulled the entire layer of skin away from the underlying connective tissue and that would be akin to a large blood blister.

    an avulsion of the skin. I have never heard that used on skin before, mostly for certain kinds of fractures. It is when there is pulling away from the normal attachment. So it sounds like he has developed a blister but hasnt ripped it? We'll see.

    DeSalvo was good again tonight. He wont be confused with a future ace, but he keeps his pitch count low and has the hitters off balance all night for a second night in a row. It is pretty interesting that a guy like Rasner, who started the yr in our rotation and pitched a few games last season, gets a short leash, yet this rookie kid who is green to the majors gets through 7 in one and into the 7th in another.
