  1. If at first you dont succeed...
  2. well, this game sure hasnt started out like I had hoped.
  3. I think he is saying that your team is overachieving right now.
  4. Has anyone seen Todd Helton's stats to this point? .355 5HR 26RBI .473OBP .526SLG. That deal would have moved Youkilis to 3rd and lost Lowell plus Tavarez. At this point, it may be a draw, but Helton is back people. And from the sounds of it, the Yankees may be entering the fray if they are successful in voiding Giambi's contract, which they are trying to do for some stupid f***ing reason. I dont think that is a good idea, mind you, since Helton's contract is a bear, but what can you do.
  5. it is all stupid. I am all for the sections giving the hearty boos or even the XXXX's suck chant depending on the stadium. But anything more than that is uncalled for. Some of my brethren make me sick.
  6. bring an argument Ray. I have done the work for you. This is nothing more than antagonistic BS. Here are a few things you can say that I wont debate you on. 1. Roger is older, so his durability could be a concern. 2. He is transitioning from the NL to the AL 3. He is rushing his rehab 4. He may lose some ticks off the heat. I wont debate you on that. Hence why I dont think he posts an ERA any lower than 3.5 after being in the 1's and low 2's the last 2 seasons. Hell, he may post one near or even above 4. But to say that he will have little effect on the team is a very poor argument. If Beckett were down for the season (theoretical, not actual) and you had to parade Tavarez and Gabbard out there every 5th day, you'd love to have a guy like Clemens. Now we are parading out DeSalvo and Clippard, DeSalvo being a guy who at best is a back of the rotation guy and Clippard is a mid rotation guy in waiting, but I think he isnt ready for the long haul yet. Neither are as good an option as Clemens or Hughes for that matter. If we had a rotation with TClip and Hughes in it right now and both were lights out from the getgo, then I'd agree with you. But with our penchant for our pitchers dropping like flies, we need stability. And as much as you hate to admit it, Rocket brings that.
  7. If I were you, I wouldnt worry either. I wouldnt give a flying f*** what happened in this series. But if you havent been sleeping amazingly of late, you could have slept a tiny bit better if you won tonight.
  8. that could be due to me losing 2 full weeks of internet, both weeks I finished 12 games under .500 (4-16). That and my offense has been putrid to this point. As far as being out of the race or back into it, I never said we were. I said that a double digit lead after June 3rd is out of the race for us. Anything other than that and we are still in it. As much as you dont wish to admit it, a win today could have crushed us. But we won this one early while having all phases of the game going. When we are rolling, we wont be beaten. The problem is, we havent been in sync at all. Our offense ws great in the first month, while our pitching sucked. In the second month, our starters have been solid, but the offense has sucked. And our pen has blown their fair share of games as well. If we get it all rolling, we will do very well. We havent to this point. We have had 2 days in a row where all systems were a go. If we continue to be very inconsistent, you wont have anything to worry about. And right now, we are so far behind you that no matter what we do, we may not catch you. We'll see how it works out. But tonight was a good one. 2 more and we get a little bit back into this. 9 games back (loss column is all that matters) on May 21st is a large, but not insurmountable obstacle.
  9. Gabbard still allows too many baserunners to be a viable option long term. But he is a pretty nice plug in option every once in awhile.
  10. and it will all be downhill once we start being consistent in every area of the game. 2 nights in a row where the rotation, pen and offense showed up. We'll see how long that lasts.
  11. I was listening to Dennis and Callahan and they were giving stats that were interesting. Even in Manny's worst starts recently, he has had double digits in homers at this point.
  12. YANKEES WIN!!! Nice win. Wang pitched well until the 7th. ARod, Cano, Giambi, and Damon snapped out of slumps. Bruney and Farnsworth were very nice. We pounded Wake and forced your pen to throw a few innings. Solid game.
  13. on second thought, Manny has been in an unprecedented power slump. The last thing we need to do is wake the sleeping giant.
  14. uh oh. If Youk and Papi make an out, I'd be interested to see if Farns will drill Manny.
  15. JD Drew has been an absolute disappointment thus far for you guys. Kinda like Abreu for us, except Abreu was instrumental in winning the east last yr, so he has a little bit of rep in the bank.
  16. sox now have the momentum. Uh oh.
  17. got him looking. Bruney has been a breath of fresh air out of the pen.
  18. you guys are a team that gets on rolls. If you stop the roll early, you can be beaten. If you let it simmer, eventually you bat around and win. Your offense is very explosive.
