    here's the deal. I dislike the media whore aspect of Schilling, but the guy is on the money on this one. The guy has cheated his way through life. Why let him have the most hallowed record in american sports through cheating? Seriously, even if you hate ARod and the Yankees, it is better he hold the record in due time than have this roided up cheater hold it. I am fine with him playing and fine with him helping his team since steroids werent tested for and yada yada yada. But when you come close to a big record in american sports, you should be held to a higher standard. And I'd be saying this even if Giambi was closing in on 755.

    any word on what his deal is? His line is amazingly bad. 5G 0-2 10.13ERA 13.1IP 21H 23R 15ER 22BB 9K And consider that the sox took him before Joba Chamberlain who by all accounts is a MUCh better prospect and just had a solid start to his Tampa career after missing time with a hammy.

    Its not for naught. All we have to do is focus on ourselves. Once we get right, you guys will be in for a war. Right now, we arent there yet, but 6 of 8 is a pretty good start.

    Tavarez' trade value is still rather low. He is what, 33? He has been a serviceable reliever and in spots has been a starter. But his track record would say that he isnt a good starter, and one or two good starts doesnt change that. If you wish to go by that logic, Igawa probably had quite a lot of value after baffling the sox for 6 innings.

    Roy Oswalt has been quoted as saying Roger helped him immensely in his development, as has Halladay and Schilling. Oswalt was in Houston.

    If he becomes an ordinary closer, and slips into the ordinary ranks, then we are fine. If he implodes like most older closers do, then we are done. As for his teleconferencing thing, he said that he will be using the clause very infrequently and that he will be with the team for almost all road trips. He only wanted that clause in there "to protect his ability to be with his family". He also said in his interview with Sterling that he wanted to work with the kids and looks forward to helping their development. Now, I am not sure if Roger will keep his word, but we'll see.
