  1. Mike Myers might be the worst lefty specialist in the game.
  2. He really didnt have it tonight and he fought it well. Torre bringing him back in at 110 pitches was a poor idea.
  3. 16 FB outs, 2 taters? As ORS said, Lester is effectively wild, and with a free swinging team like TB, that works well. But he is just dog tired right now and still not locating well in the zone.
  4. Kennedy matches him... 6IP 2H 0ER 2BB 6K
  5. Here is my point. Our top 2 consists of two very strong pitchers in Wang and Clemens. Both have been pitching very well and are giving us innings. The Beckett-DiceK tandem has been equally impressive. All 4 of these pitchers are needed to take the mound and give the team a chance to win every night. All 4 have been very good at this for this season. The sox duo has been marginally better ERA wise, so they can take a slight edge. But where the rotation is set apart is the 3-5. Pettitte and Mussina have been pitching poorly of late, that much is true. But both have the track records to consider that they wont just fall off the wagon entirely. AND, both are healthy right now. Hughes is now in the 5 hole. For you guys, the bottom three is Lester, Gabbard, and Wakefield. The only guy with a solid history is Wakefield. Also, Lester and Gabbard both possess arsenals that at this point are nothing to write home about. They have been effective, no doubt, but they dont possess the arsenal to dominate day in and day out. Now, the wildcard is Schilling. I am thinking that Schill will come back as the mediocre pitcher he was when he left. If he returns to prime form, then you guys have the edge, no doubt. It is really close right now, but I'll take the track record of our 3/4 and the potential of the "best pitching prospect in the majors" over the knuckleballer and the rookies. But if Schill returns as an ace, then it is yours hands down. Right now it is close, very very close. But the homer in me will take what we have right now.
  6. Yankees back to sucking dick at the plate. What the f*** is going on here? Brian f***ing Burres?
  7. sounds like they are close. The names being tossed around are Kennedy and Marquez. i would be WICKED pissed if we dealt those 2 away for a 3 month rental for a pennant race that we are still trailing by a wide margin. If they make this deal, they need to sign Gagne for a few seasons. because Kennedy will be a good one, and adding a guy like Marquez, who is a young sinkerballer who is pitching very well in AA, would be an absolute travesty.
  8. that is an easy way to have the phone hung up on you. 3 months of a slugger who is just coming around is worth something. But it isnt worth that. I would say that Dye could be worth a mid level prospect, maybe Masterson or Bard/Cox/Hansen types. Guys who are either projects or dont project as aces or potential All stars.
  9. DONT TRADE HIM FOR NOTHING. This is the kind of guy who we deal and then becomes something good. He has solid stuff, I dont want to cut bait and watch him have a season like Contreras had when he first left. Right now I hate the guy. But if we deal him for nothing, then we may regret it.
  10. if they get Samuel to come around, then this team might be the best offensive AND defensive team in the game. They are really scary.
  11. I have no interest in Wiggy. NONE. Phillips is playing hot right now. Shelley Duncan has Wiggy's power and then some. We are stacked at 2nd, 3rd and OF. I dont want to give up what we NEED in bullpen and get a guy who will be an upgrade over Cairo and thats it.
  12. I said if we can continue a .666-.750 win % then you should. Not likely, I know, but win one series at a time and see where you end up, right? Right now you guys are smoking hot and your pitching has come around. Wakefield has rebounded, Gabbard has finally showed some signs of reverting to his norms, and Lester gutted out a solid performance. Your entire success will be due to the back 3 of your rotation and in this last turn, they were dynamite. Same with us. Once Hughes returns, the Pettitte, Mussina and Hughes trio will be the deciding factor in our success. This last turn it was Mussina, Igawa and Pettitte and the final two spit the bit, but we still won 3 of 5 in that rotational turn. And like I said before, with Hughes in our rotation, I'd still take ours over yours. BUT, that will be severely affected if Pettitte continues to pitch himself to the brink every game. This next rotational turn is absolutely imperative since we go into hell in about 18 days. Should be fun.
  13. If Shields is anything like he was against us last week, then you guys should roll.
  14. Ishii had trouble finding the plate at all. Igawa does have control issues, but his control issues are in the zone for the most part. He is a guy with an 88-90 mph fastball who thinks his fastball is 99-100. Everything is letters high.
  15. I was glad to see Mo hold it down in the shortened game. I did have a bad feeling against Guthrie, though. I know the stats and the win go back to June, but with Clemens and Wang going against Burres and Cabrera, we have a real shot at taking 3 of 4. The problem is that you guys are getting really , really hot and having 15 or so games left against TB doesnt hurt. But if we can continue taking 2 of 3 or 3 of 4, you should fall back. At the same time, it is pretty clear that Cleveland is the worse team and shooting for the WC may not be a bad thing.
  16. Chris Basak called up per yankees.com YES!!! This likely spells the end of Igawa in the Bronx for this season. Igawa has to be considered a huge disappointment right now and a huge enigma. He has an average heater and 2 plus off speed pitches. But he has minus control and minus minus composure and I have a feeling that is going to do him in. This has to be considered one of the biggest wastes of money in baseball history (in addition to another shitbag, Carl pavano).
  17. http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/articles/2007/07/27/hes_gaining_in_arms_race/ out for the season with a broken hamate bone
  18. I feel bad for TB. They need relocation something awful.
  19. I'll tell ya what, we got pretty lucky in terms of pitching matchups as well. As it stands, we should see the last of Igawa tonight against an equally ineffective pitching in De La Rosa. Then, we miss Bedard in Baltimore and Vazquez and Buerhle home vs Chicago on consecutive series. Throw in the continued game which we continue tomorrow and we could continue this success for awhile. It is one thing to play s***** teams. It is another to play them and miss their better pitchers.
  20. ARod batting with a chance at 500
  21. it may take more. LaRoche is a legit middle of the order hitter. Ellsbury is a top of the order guy who will not hit for power unless he pries the lock off Giambi's locker. I would assume that a middle of the order bat is more important, but that may be just me. Also, for consideration purposes... The Dodgers have Pierre signed for 4 more yrs. The Dodgers have Matt Kemp The Dodgers have Andre Ethier Ellsbury doesnt have the potential of either of the final 2, and Loney occupies 1b, so you cannot convert them. I dont think they will be a solid trading partner.
  22. ARod with the 2 run line drive homer and the yankees lead comfortably, 5-1. NICE!!!
