  1. f*** em. I dont care what Towers did. Good for him going after ARod. And then watch Clemens go headhunting. As William Wallace would say, I'm goon ta pik a foight.
  2. Clemens is gonna headhunt. SWEEET!
  3. you dont know what he said.
  4. Melky is still raking. .298 BA and a .350OBP is nothing to scoff at.
  5. I can understand the logic for Proctor, but trying to validate Myers spot on this roster is assinine at best. Myers is not the guy you bring in to a 1 run game to pitch a full inning. He is a guy who comes in to face lefties one pitch at a time. And the fact that he only had a 2.66ERA speaks to how wonderful the other pitchers have been at bailing him out. When your only job is to get lefties out and they hit you at a rate of .312 with a .850+ OPS, then you arent doing your job. You would have an argument if Myers was being used as a full inning reliever, but he isnt.
  6. he has a BAA vs lefties of .312. I mean cmon.
  7. bout damn time. Nothing like a one batter pitcher who cannot get that one batter out.
  8. The M's dont have the experience either and they are stuck in neutral. The Guardians' rotation fell apart with Westbrook and Lee being injured and teh suck. But their biggest weakness IMO is their pen which they once again failed to upgrade. The Tigers are a good team that is injured/underachieving. I told people from the beginning that they win the Central and i still think they do. The Yankees have the offense, they now have the rotation and at least they have the closer. Their bane will be that pen and losing Proctor will hurt. Rumor has it, Joba is on his way up and he has been lights out from the pen (0ER, 10K in 4IP)
  9. I think he is used to the old me, the guy with the horrible predictions who will likely be back this offseason. Until then, I will be a fan and enjoy the success and shrug off the failure. This has been a strange yr in more ways than one.
  10. Torre should send Wedge, Leyland, and the dude who took over for Hargrove a fruit basket for coming back to the pack. The Yankees are smoking the ball right now and it starts with Matsui and Cano raking. When this kid gets hot he doesnt make outs at all. He isnt like Jeter or most other high average guys who dont go into prolonged slumps or big tears on a regular basis. He goes freezing cold early then is unreal late. The guy hit .385 in July and is hitting .500 in August.
  11. I wouldnt paint anyone as favorites right now. I consider this as big a toss up as ever. Last yr, you had the yankees, tigers, and twins as 95-96 win teams and they were dominant. This season, every team has had extreme moments of mediocrity with all 4 playoff contenders having critical flaws in their postseason hopes and world series dreams. This season will be a major toss up, hence getting to he playoffs is the way to go and then feel your way from there.
  12. I think 90 would be a solid prediction. But if anything, the yankees have been unpredictable. I could see them as .500 against the solid teams and .666 against the s*** as I could see them .750 against the good teams and .250 against the s***** ones. All I know if right now, they are clicking on all cylinders and guys like Pettitte and Mussina are starting to earn their keep.
  13. That doesnt sound biased at all. Assuming the sox go 28-23 is about right if they do what they are capable of doing and dont either fall on their faces or go on an extended tear. I'd assume your yankee prediction has them around 90-92 wins, which at this point, sounds pretty logical or even optimistic on the yankee end. I wont do predictions anymore, this season has been nearly impossible to predict and the yankee team is about as likely to go on a solid run and take this thing as they are to go in the tank and finish .500. I wouldnt be surprised if they won 95, just like I wouldnt be surprised if they won 85.
  14. Detroit 61 49 .555 --- Seattle 60 49 .550 0.5 New York 61 50 .550 0.5 Minnesota 57 53 .518 4.0 Toronto 56 54 .509 5.0 Oakland 53 59 .473 9.0 Baltimore 52 58 .473 9.0 Chicago 52 59 .468 9.5 Kansas City 48 62 .436 Texas 48 63 .432 13.5 Tampa Bay 42 68 .382 19 even more alive now.
  15. you guys do have more games against the putrid teams. AT the same time, if you use Toronto as the benchmark (2 games over .500), the yankees have 28 games against teams at or below 2 games over. The sox have 34 games against said teams. This shows even further why the sox have the advantage. I am pretty certain that, once again, barring a monumental collapse by the sox, this division race is over.
  16. Lets put it this way... The teams we have coming up are scuffling something hard. Records since July 1 CLE- 14-16 LAA- 13-15 SEA- 16-16 DET- 15-16 BOS and BAL are the only ones with .500+ win % in that span.
  17. didnt you guys recently lose a series at home to the Royals,?
  18. how about half a game? That is the deficit in the wild card.
  19. That is very true. We have put ourselves in striking distance with 4 more powderpuff games to go. With all engines running, we will slam into the toughest opponents in the game and see what we are made of. We have gotten what we needed to out of the powderpuff part of the schedule, now we will have to show what we can do against the best. If we fare well in that span of games, we will be set as the last 5 weeks of our season is a joke as well (sans our 3 game set in Fenway).
  20. 2 hits today as well.
  21. Phil was rusty. Just like his first start in Toronto, actually almost identical. He'll improve, he has the stuff to do so. Location killed him today. The inning he gave up 4 runs had him give up a leadoff single on 0-2 and a line drive homer on 1-2.
  22. it was reported a few days ago. The current worth of the network is considered to be near 3 billion.
  23. As much as you guys hated him, you dont want to wish this on anyone. With his successor being changed recently to keep it in the Steinbrenner family, and the YES network being up for sale, it is pretty easy to see that the stories of Big Stein being in rough shape appear to be true. Also, the fact that his publicist has made every single statement for him recently and he has been hidden from public view lends credence to their claim. If the claims are true, then thanks for bringing the yankees back George and good luck.
