  1. goddamn Wakefield. This guy is an ace against the Rays. Oh well, enjoy the rest of the game. Off to work I go.
  2. http://blog.washingtonpost.com/nationalsjournal/2007/08/so_much_for_that_theory.html?nav=rss_blog So, Pena gets DFA'd and the Nats go out of their way to acquire a mashing lefty 1b and then send him to Boston for a guy they could have gotten for free in 10 days. Wow. This is an excellent trade for Boston.
  3. I am going on my third trip to the moon and will bring home some aliens to cook for dinner. Also, my junk weighs 92 pounds and glows in the dark.
  4. not even close. Masterson is a mid level prospect to start with who started to climb to the upper part of that mid level until he got the s*** kicked out of him. He isnt even close to being an elite prospect. Not even close. Elite to me is top 10 in the entire game, and I dont think you will find too many people who'd have him in the top 50 of all pitching prospects.
  5. yes, but the curtain calls are more for the fans, not an effort to show up the pitcher. Standing there and watching a homer like that is showing up the pitcher. To be honest, I am surprised Bonds hasnt had his tower buzzed with the way he watches them. You would think that for a guy who has hit so many, he'd not need to admire every one.
  6. the 3 at the back end of the TB rotation are VERY BAD. The 3 at the end of the Baltimore rotation are average #5 starters.
  7. Hughes was a comp pick for Pettitte I believe.
  8. I see Gom's point. Right now, this season, Becks is pitching like an elite pitcher. But I can see that waiting for a second strong season is warranted after having such a poor yr last yr.
  9. I dont advocate going for the head unless it is warranted. Most people think it is never warranted, I disagree. Is it lifethreatening, not really almost all the time, is it scary, you betcha. But what he did to Piazza was unwarranted, you are right. Piazza did nothing but be the best Mets hitter coming into that game and Clemens went right for the dome. Then he threw the bat at him. But for me, I had a few long ones hit off me when I pitched. One kid, who got drafted in the second round, drilled one that still hasnt landed, and he watched it, big time. I hit him right in the helmet the next time out. He huffed and puffed and was all pissed off at me, but he knew never to stare at another one again. And he got his chance a couple more times, man could that kid hit.
  10. good post. Its a give and take.
  11. Kazmir against Wake should be a good one. Wake with no Belli against a team that he typically dominates against a pitcher that typically dominates the sox. Toss up.
  12. We showed we could wear down and hit Verlander We showed we could could hit Nate Robertson We showed we could hit Durbin after an adjustment period. We showed we could hit Bonderman as well. Rogers and Miller are on the DL as well. We are in line to face Jurriens Verlander Robertson Durbin in Detroit. Zumaya will be back at that time though, making their awful pen more formidable. While we will be sending Clemens, Wang, Hughes, and Moose. I wouldnt be surprised if we take 3 of 4 again. But in our way is the Angels series, which always gives me angina. Not in our favor as well is that we face their top 2 pitchers in that series without throwing Clemens or Wang.
  13. Gagne still an enigma. He just cannot have a clean inning, even when his stuff is sharp.
  14. Talking about Charlie Zink, the sox AAA knuckleballer, I faced him prior to developing a knuckler. He threw kinda hard without it.
  15. Wang was solid early, hit a s***** patch, then finished solid in the 6th. He isnt a dominant force and he is in a rough patch. We have to hope that sinker comes back.
  16. Edwar just K'd the side, he threw his last 10 pitches as changeups. Holy s***.
  17. Wang held the fort. Yankees score some runs. Edwar right now is dominant. SOLID!
  18. Dont get too high. It is the angels after all. A team that could beat us drunk and blindfolded, but a team that you guys always own.
  19. Remy is trying to say that the pitch to Vlad was a good one. Cmon Remy. The ball was supposed to be off the outside corner of the plate. He did get it down, but not down far enough and it split the plate in half. He missed his spot by half a plate. And as I type, Mathews lines right to Cora. Everyone is hitting him hard.
