  1. maybe something is bothering his arm? What, like the pounds and pounds of scar tissue from previous surgeries? Or maybe the fact that his back and shoulders need to compensate for the half ton of canadian blubber he is dragging around in the event of a long drought eh? Thus far, he has sucked. He hasnt had one solid outing and he has been directly responsible for 2 losses in games that were already wins. It isnt like he came into a tie game and gave it up. He came into a winning cause and gave it up, twice, and both times resulted in losses. He has sucked, and his stuff looks flat. Could it be tired arm from not pitching for 2 yrs. Could it be that he really has crappy stuff and had been getting by on presence on knowledge? Whatever it is, he looks defeated when he steps on the mound, then throws pitches that solidify that appearance.
  2. Wednesday is the deadline, but reports abound that the yankees and Brackman, their 1st round pick, have agreed to a 3 million dollar deal which will be approved by the commish's office in 2 days.
  3. but if he doesnt pitch the ninth, he cannot get the save, and that is all he knows, so he cannot setup effectively, he will need time to adjust /stupidmorganimpression.
  4. Melky is 23 and controlled for 4 more yrs. He is not on Hunter's level on either end of the bat aside from contact and BA, but to be honest with you, I'd take the whole package of Cabrera since he could be entering his prime while Hunter is just leaving his. In terms of Rowand, I have never been a huge fan of his. He is hitting well these days, but he also is much older.
  5. Dealing away Melky would have been an awful idea. He is hitting over .300, OBP'ing around .350 and starting to hit with some minimal power. He is our CFer of the future, well, until he gets too rotund to play CF.
  6. I thought that was 2 days prior?
  7. he'll be fine for the 08 season.
  8. I still feel as if it would take a monumental effort to continue to overcome this hole. It has taken a ridiculous post ASB record to get within 4, and we need to continue it as you guys take your turns against the shittier teams of the league. Color me excited, but cautiously optimistic for the yankees.
  9. I agree. I'll go as far to say that each fits their team perfectly. Pedroia is your leadoff hitter. Average speed, good OBP skills and a solid eye, hence he fits your team best. Cano is hitting 6th/7th or even 8th for us with the potential to be a middle of the order bat. I think his OBP skills arent as important to us as his ability to drive in the runs, so he fits us best. But if you had to choose a player to start a team with, I'd assume you'd go for the guy with the most power and with the higher potential to be a middle of the order bat.
  10. DFA both, sign Mike Remlinger.
  11. open mouth, insert foot. Schilling isnt dominant per se, but he is outsmarting the O's all game long.
  12. Melky is coming into his own as one of the 10 best CFers. Man, he is solid. He and Cano will be a nice foundation for the next 10-15yrs.
  13. Giambi getting hot 2-0
  14. OPS of .948 is pretty nice. Invite to ST and push Lugo.
  15. We own Westbrook. Lets hope Andy keeps his post AS break roll on (3.25ERA post ASB).
  16. might be time for a promotion, see if he can handle it in AAA for the last couple weeks and then put the thought into Lugo's mind by bringing Jed to ST next yr. Maybe it will light a fire under Lugo's ass.
  17. we may need to eat 3 or 4 mil, but he is much better than Drew ever was and you saw that he got at nearly the same age.
  18. I have a problem with Kennedy being in the rotation for the rest of the yr. For one spot start, no problem. In terms of Chamberlain, he isnt being a starter in the bigs and as a reliever, he is lights out. I think it will set him back half a season in terms of command of his change and curve which will be needed for starting, but otherwise no worries.
  19. interesting that Kennedy didnt make the hot list with his dominance of AAA.
  20. The Herald is running a story on Ortiz today saying that he is unable to perform his daily workout regiment due to his injured shoulder. No weights means less power apparently. He sounds like he is really hurting.
