Soiano didnt even get 20 mil a season. We are talking about a player who is older than Sori was and for 12 mil more a season. Do you seriously think that Soriano + a 12mil player is not a little overboard for ARod.
Also, consider those teams that went out and spent. SF, Chicago from last yr. ANA, BOS, NYY, NYM, and CWS from yrs past. Who else has 30+ mil a season to dedicate to one player? Thats about it. And who do we know has the history to go over and above. The Yankees, of course. Cashman has essentially removed the yankees from consideration if he opts out. Therefore, without the team that continually goes over and beyond other offers, dont you think he could get considerably less? Plus, ARod's first deal was made by an idiot who hamstrung his team on this one contract. Dont you think other teams in a similar situation would recognize that? I dont think the Tom Hicks' of the world will continue to make these kinds of mistakes.
I will put it right down, right now. If ARod opts out, he will not make more than 30 mil per season AAV over the life of his contract. He wont.
