  1. Either way, another quality start and we are on our way to another win without our offense contributing much until the end. 4 wins, 4 quality starts 3 losses, 0 quality starts
  2. Gomes and Iwamura are still good hitters. Tampa was smack dab in the middle of the league last yr in runs and BA and 5th in the AL in OPS. I have a feeling they reproduce that.
  3. Timlin was one hell of a reliever, but he has proven that big workloads arent good for him these days. In a limited role, even as a setup man a few times a week, he can do. But if you start using him in consecutive games or set him up for a big workload then you'll see him suck. I have a feeling that Oki will come back to earth a bit and MDC will step it up into the setup role.
  4. Mussina pitched very well against a pretty good lineup. Bruney looks solid thus far this yr. He is actually throwing strikes.
  5. enjoy the game ORS. I get the luxury of waking up tomorrow morning at 5am. M-Thurs, I work 6a-7p, Friday is a 26 hour shift (6a-8a) then I work 6 straight from Sunday to Next Friday, all 13 hour shifts. 156 hours in 12 days. Kill me.
  6. it took a month before we got back to normal. That season, you guys started poorly too. Once we kicked it up, we were solid until the end of the yr.
  7. New gamethread so we can get away from the McPhuture thing. Should be an interesting game. I expect a high scoring affair.
  8. He looked like a different pitcher tonight. 2 seamers and sliders to righties. 4 seamers, 2 seamers and changeups to lefties. He was awesome against a very good offense.
  9. I find it funny. Sox fans were laughing about using Japan as an excuse for our awful start in 2004. But the sox right now look dead. If it wasnt for facing one of the worst teams in the game for the first 4 games, you might be even further behind the 8 ball.
  10. Beckett threw hard but couldnt locate today. Rust most likely. Seeing as he missed a good amt of time, he shouldnt be judged until May
  11. I wouldnt be. The O will be there eventually. The funny thing is, we have now reached HALF of last yrs win total when scoring 3 runs or less. We were 6-36 in games where we scored under 4 runs. We are now at 3 QSs to start the yr with 5 of the 6 starts being winnable. Wang looked good. Really good. 6K in 6IP. He was mixing in the change and the slider a hell of a lot more and kept Pena off balance. Good game all around.
  12. Josh Garrett- 1996 John Curtice- 1997 Jeff Everett- 1998 Rick Asadoorian and Brad Baker- 1999 Phil Dumatrait- 2000 Matt Chico (2nd round)-2001 wow
  13. Andy Yount and Corey Jenkins say hi (both 1st rounders in 1995 for the sox).
  14. Aardsma has the better tools. Corey offers an option as a long man. You take the guy who could be dominant over what corey offers especially when you have a long man already. If Aardsma pans out, then he could be a setup option. If he doesnt, the pen is still solid.
  15. neither of us had a good one today. Defense and our utter lack of offense against a pathetic pitcher killed us today. And, well, same goes for you guys except Corey and Snyder kinda took the starch out of the end of the game also.
  16. Matt Stairs doesnt have a prayer against Buchholz
  17. He and Pettitte should have a few brews together.
  18. Casey used to be a GG caliber 1b. Not anymore
  19. good point, lol Buchholz is avoiding danger, but he is living dangerously
  20. I feel so bad for Pettitte. Jeter and Duncan have been awful today
  21. Halladay has thrown 445.1IP over the last 2 yrs, with an ERA of 3.46 and a WHIP of 1.17. Beckett's best yr was last yr, when he threw 200.2IP with an ERA of 3.27 and a WHIP of 1.14. I'd take Halladay all day long. He has proven it over a longer stretch of time. If the Jays werent insane and let him throw 260IP a few yrs back, he may have had a few consecutive CY. In terms of needing one game, with the season on the line, Beckett's my guy. But over the haul of a season, Halladay is the better bet.
