  1. first move off pettitte most likely
  2. I know just as much as you ORS. Which is nothing. It is all hope in this case. But to continue to call me Dr. (insert insult here) is very low of you. I thought you were better than that.
  3. A rookie lefty? Yeah, we dont hit them.
  4. Not a bad player. 25 yr old with 4 solid average MLB pitches and impeccable control. Sits 90-93. He's only walked 20 in 120IP
  5. Not necessarily true. There are a good amount of teams that send their prized pitchers to him for evals in the absence of MRI evidence. He has been doing this thing so long that his exam is more reliable than an equivocal MRI. As it is, the shoulder is one of the poorer imaged joints as one of its cogs to stability (the labrum) is poorly imaged in any way possible. Regardless, I think the secrecy shows more than the fact that they are having Andrews examine him. It is safe to say they saw something. Rumors on other yankee boards is that the labrum and cuff are solid from what they saw. But did he hurt his bicep tendon when he fell, did he have a tear in his deltoid? Who knows, are those rumors wrong? We all have to wait.
  6. Big man syndrome. I thought they didnt fix the wrist? I thought they said surgery wasnt indicated? Did they just scope it and not fix it? Here's the deal, Big Papi is an elite player. But his body type will keep him out of a lot of games in the future. It is his wrist right now, but those barking knees will only get worse.
  7. Kottaras is very inconsistent in the minors. I would imagine it would be magnified at the big league level. He can hit the crap out of the ball when he makes contact, but he is easily deceived and seems to be guessing half the time.
  8. Where do you put both Holliday and Bay? Neither are true CFers. Face it, the sox have a good lineup with no real feasible options for serious upgrade. LF and RF are locked up. As are 1B, 2B, 3B, and DH. The catcher's position is a possibility. Pudge Rodriguez might be available next yr, do you take that chance? For SS, you have a kid who is hitting well there and you have a SS under contract for 2 more yrs. Where is the upgrade?
  9. Sounds like he is. He said it stiffened up on him, no real pain per se and the last pitch of the night was 96mph. Sounds like his deltoid and in that heat, a muscle spasm or even a muscle strain isnt uncommon. That being said, the yankees will treat that arm like some rare egg.
  10. It doesnt matter if we take this game. If Joba ends up missing more than one start, this game is a season ender
  11. He is hot right now man. Wow, quite a way to start
  12. With Joba, Moose and Pettitte leading a rotation and a healthy Hughes and Wang, we'd have a damn formidable rotation for the playoffs. But with Wang and Joba in question, this rotation tumbles. Here's how this will play out. The Yankees will be smart and rest Joba immediately. He'll be placed on the DL, MRI'd (which will likely show nothing) and then will be allowed to throw. After a few pen sessions and a rehab start, he'll be pitching again in Sept. Very cautious, but the right thing to do. If this doesnt prompt the yankees to make a serious run at Sabathia, I dont know what will.
  13. he left rubbing his shoulder. Looked like a cramp to Cone, but a young power arm with shoulder pain is not a good thing. You better believe they are clearing space in an MRI scanner somewhere
  14. Unknown if it is a cramp, twinge, pull, tear or what have you. But he threw like s*** today and then pointed to his shoulder when he was pulled. If he is out for an extended period of time, we are done
  15. Buchholz throws the curve too much and he doesnt locate his heater well enough. He might need to remediate in AAA as well. Hell, I'd tell the kid that he has 3 or 4 starts and all he gets is 10 breaking pitches. Force him to fine tune the fastball location.
  16. I like you, but you are an idiot in this thread. Melky should have been sent down a month ago. Everyone knows I supported this a month ago
  17. Ellsbury should be sent down. Take a look at the overall numbers first. .259/.323/.352. That is a .323 OBP for a starting CFer who is supposed to be a leadoff hitter. His OPS is less than .700 as well, making him a poor option. And when the sox have an option who has a better OPS and plays better D, you have to play him. Now lets look at the recent record. June, July, August OPS's. .592, .566, .222. This isnt a short slump. His OPS has declined every month. His OPS in April and May were good for a speedster. His OPS for June on has been awful, and once again declining. Might be time to do something
  18. I see Manny in LA alright. With the angels
  19. Since the AS break, the yankees are 11-5. Not too shabby
  20. then what about losing 2/3 to the yankees and getting swept by the angels at home?
  21. Not really. I am coming at it from a scouting report point of view. Hughes has been billed as a guy who throws 92-94 consistently, with a plus plus curve and a plus change. He also throws a good slider. The problem with him is that, for some reason, he's been a 2 pitch pitcher this season. Last yr, he threw his changeup a lot and he was very effective, especially in September. BTW, he threw in Greenville on 8/2 and was sitting 94 mph. Stress fractures occur typically over time and Hughes may have been dealing with it for awhile. The way they are ramping him up, I wont be surprised if he is a MLB option come Sept 1.
