  1. Gom, re-read your post again. There ya go kiddo.
  2. Santana would be killing the ball right now. With him, we'd be beating Perkins.
  3. so we just got swept. And you know how to fix that? By sitting our leading hitter and one of our leading HR hitters for 2 AAAA guys. AWESOME!!
  4. By your criteria, the short term is all that matters and since Mussina is better than Johan right now, the Mets should be all about a deal, right? Dumbass
  5. Santana is good, but not great this yr. Mussina is better right now
  6. You know what i find funny? Gom goes back to the Johan deal when Johan has been no better (probably worse) than Mussina when you factor everything in. LETS TRADE THE FARM FOR MIKE MUSSINA!!! idiot
  7. I continue to be amazed by how ignorant you are on this topic.
  8. Probably not, IMO. Lars will take a slower approach so long as he doesnt explode. Right now, he is right where people expected him to be. I'd say he moves up into the mid 20s or so. When he finally does put it together and start hitting 25HRs in the minors, then he'll crack top 10 and likely be pushing Youk.
  9. and to be honest with you, if half our damn team wasnt on the DL, we'd be leading the WC. The fact that we're only 4 back with Wang, Joba, Hughes, Posada, Matsui all on the DL for the long term and after having Kennedy fail, Horne and Marquez get hurt, Damon and ARod being on the DL for 3 weeks: is amazing.
  10. Again, you are looking at the short term. Giving up on Hughes and Kennedy when they are 22 and 23 respectively is foolish. If you crave to have Gene Michaels reinstalled, maybe, just maybe you should understand what you want. Michaels is the kind of guy who rebuilt the yankee dynasty with key internal pieces and supplemented them with trades. Cashman is trying the same model. Neither of these guys were big on the huge FA splashes. So if you wish to clamor for Cashman's head and strike up a position that Michael be re-hired, maybe you should do your damn homework and think for once.
  11. nah, I faced him in college. He played for Luis Tiant at Savannah A&D.
  12. huh? VA, these arent the rays. This is a good move for the DBacks. Dunn OPS's >.900 regulalry and should be a nice power push for the West.
  13. he has been god awful this yr and if I were him, I'd consider retiring too. If he doesnt rehab and get a few mph on his fastball, he's done. His curve doesnt break anymore, the circle sits flat and he was throwing 83-84mph the start i saw him throw.
  14. Dojji has this one. The off season pitching market was about as bad as I had ever seen it. The best FA option was a #5 starter who got 11 mil a yr. Lohse turned into an NL gem, but he had been brutal in the AL to that point. The only option would have been a trade for Santana. The one thing I will disagree with Dojji on is that the package the sox had a shot at using, with Ellsbury and not Lester heading it, would have been in the sox best interest. The Lester one would have been a disaster. But imagine a top 4 of Beckett, Santana, Lester, DiceK. Yowza.
  15. exactly
  16. First, welcome to the board Dojji. I like seeing a new poster come in and post a good amount. Second, I have to agree with....Kilo. A pitcher's job needs to be evaluated by how he does alone. You need to take his performance independent of what his team gives him. By your logic, if a pitcher is given a 9 run lead and hands the ball to the pen with a 1 run lead, then he did his job. I disagree. A pitcher's job is to minimize the amount of runs allowed while giving a maximum length. A pitcher like DiceK who will allow 2 runs in 5IP is also not doing his job. A good pitcher is someone who will allow less than 3 runs over 6 or more innings on a frequent basis.
  17. he needs to spend some time in AAA to get his FB command back
  18. I'd be surprised to see what the Jets and Giants can do this yr. The G men lost a lot on the D with Mitchell, Wilson, and Strahan gone. They also lost more than they realize with Shockey getting dealt. But the core of the D line is still there in Tuck, Omenyioura, and the rotating D tackles of Cofield and Alford. But their Mo was speed and depth from the DE position. Unsure if Tuck and Osi can handle being on the field 80% of the time when last yr it seemed like a solid 2/3 rotation. Kiwanuka returns to the LB position with Pierce as well. Phillips takes the spot vacated by Gibril Wilson. Aaron Ross and the USC draftee will be forced to play the cover roles. The Jets pulled a yankee. They signed nearly 200million dollars worth of contracts this offseason with Alan Faneca being the biggest signee. Then they go out and get Favre. With a better O line, they might be able to get a better run game than they had last yr. Thomas Jones and Leon Washington are underrated and were exposed last yr with the fact that Chad couldnt throw and the O line had some holes. Now, with an improved line, the RBs should get their yards, with Jones being a 1100-1200 yd rusher and Washington being the versatile scat back. Favre also opens up the offense more, utilizing one of their biggest weapons. In case you didnt notice, Coles is one of the fastest WR in the game, but Pennington's game turned him into a possession receiver. Look for Coles to be a big time deep threat this yr. Unsure if Favre has dealt with someone this fast in his WR core. On defense, the line is interesting. Sean Ellis is a big time pass rusher and the addition of Kris Jenkins will help sure up the middle assuming he can stay on the field. The other DE spot is remaining open. The Jets did draft Gholston, but look to be using him in the LB role. David Harris slides into the starting MILB role with Vilma gone. In the secondary, Revis steps in as the feature CB and Kerry Rhodes returns as their feature safety. The other CB will be Justin Miller with a score of people fighting for the nickel. Lots of speed in this secondary, but not a ton of tackling ability. Overall, for the GMen, I see them still making the playoffs, but without a significant progression on the offensive side of the ball, they dont repeat. For the Jets, they will get better, but wont make the playoffs. If Favre is willing to stay for a 2nd yr, the Jets are the kind of team that could challenge for a title in a yr. But not this yr
  19. Well, this is with the assumption that Curt knew his arm was hurting as much as it was. I would assume that the majority of his damage was done prior and hence was the reason for him needing a DL stint and some time rehabbing. But I think the final straw was in his warmups to get ready for the spring. Regardless, as much as I'd like to think Curt is a fat lout, suckling off the sox teat, I dont think he is the kind of guy who can take money without being able to give any sort of performance.
  20. forgot about Youk's versatility. Sorry.
