So, they tried to rehab it, but he felt it go on a throw last night. It might be time to retool the roster a bit if that is the case. Now that Ransom is back, we have a guy who screams utility guy. Lets send Pena down so he can get regular playing time and bring up a bat to come off the bench as needed. When we have our full complement in an AL game, our bench consists of:
Melky or Gardner
Cervelli
Ransom
Pena
Now granted, Pena, Cervelli, Melky and Gardner have exceeded expectations to this point, but none of them really offer anything more than a line drive single if we needed it. I would like to see them add a guy with some pop if needed off the bench. Especially with this club and the age on this club. Damon goes down for a couple days and both Gardner and Melky are in the lineup, two guys who arent gonna light the world afire with their power. Cano or Jeter out of the lineup for a few days and Ransom goes in, another guy without a lot of power. So, how bout we bring someone up and send down Pena, a guy with options. Maybe a guy like Miranda, John Rodriguez, or Shelley Duncan. BTW, Duncan is lighting the world on fire in AAA, 20+ homers already and he's being treated like he's Ruth incarnate in terms of walks in big spots.
