  1. time for some umpires to be shot in the head. That first base ump costs us a run
  2. not working the count either. He's right at 50 pitches through 4.
  3. 72 pitches through 3. He may not make it out of the 5th
  4. Jorge Cantu is a big bag of suck
  5. Dunn hit that one a LOOOOONG way
  6. He has corrected his problem after the first. He isnt throwing as hard as he did in Boston, but he is keeping it down.
  7. Brandon Kline, Madison Younginer and Renny Parthemore are 3 guys asking for lots of money. Kline and Younginer are asking for 3-5 mil. Renfroe is asking for 3.5mil.
  8. I hear ya. That being said, from a sheer talent perspective, the sox draft is ridiculous. But I doubt they sign a lot of these guys. Hell, they have two later round signees asking for 5 mil apiece. Thats crazy
  9. Penny is throwing easy cheese.
  10. just as I say that, he throws a beauty and gets the DP. He needs to minimize the run and get more sink in order to be useful. He cannot be leaving half his pitches belt high
  11. the sox would spend a record if they did. We are talking about 30-40 mil. Thats 3-4 times more than they spent last yr
  12. get Hughes up. His sinker is gone
  13. this isnt good. Wang's sinker is running and not sinking.
  14. Nobody in recent memory signed every pick. The sox will miss on a TON of these guys
  15. back when they acquired Loaiza Mussina, Lieber, Loaiza, Duque, Brown and Vazquez
  16. the yankees did this for 2 turns back in 2004 and they lost 8 of those 12 games and allowed boston to get back in the race for the ALE.
  17. This has been confirmed by Francona himself. Smoltz starts on the 25th. They also not that Smoltz will sit inbetween Lester and Beckett, meaning that DiceK would be pushed back from his regular rest. This is a way for the sox to see what Smoltz has before moving Penny. This is also a way to piss off his young bucks in Beckett and Lester who both will likely want to work on regular rest. Power pitchers coming back on extra rest are typically too strong and dont locate well.
  18. Example, what are you smoking? If Beckett continues to pitch well and put up another 2 200IP seasons with another sub 4 ERA and 18 or 19 wins per, he is going to look at what CC got as a benchmark for young, power pitchers in their prime. I dont think he'll get 7 yrs 161 mil, but I assume it would be in the range of 5-7 yrs and around 18-20 mil per. So your deams of 5yrs 70 mil are off by about 1-2 yrs and 50-70 mil.
  19. for comparison, that is only 0.2IP per start more than Joba is giving us this yr, and Joba is in his first yr of starting at the MLB level.
  20. His overall numbers arent bad when you look at IP/start over his career, but since 2007 he has been terrible. Since 2007, he has started 36 games and has gone 198.2IP for a 5.5IP/start rate.
  21. Adam Warren pitching right now for UNC. He's the yankees 4th rounder
  22. I actually think it was for injury concerns a700. I think his arm slot was considered to be vulnerable to injury to the shoulder long term and they tried to fix it. At least, that is what I remember
  23. He is making it very hard for Theo to put into the everyday player mold.
