That is what teams do, they move a prospect to another position while the incumbent either gets moved or plays out the contract. I think Hardy gets moved this offseason, I really do. But from a leverage standpoint, they dont HAVE to move him. Thats the point.

I am saying your viewpoint isnt entirely unrealistic. I dont think thats what is going to happen, but it could. I think that a 40+ yr old guy with a nagging back issue that left him useless in a playoff run might be the last straw for this guy. What does he have left to prove? He's the longest tenured sock during their most prolific run in a century. He's made a boatload of cash. And, he has two rings. Does he really need to pitch through pain for a half a season at his age to potentially be the 6th man for Boston down the stretch of 2010? I think that from Wake's perspective, it might be time to hang it up and become a coach.

He's gonna be in the 4-5 mil range and he's had one bad yr to two really good ones for a SS. He wont be given away. He's under control for 3 more yrs as well. They dont have to deal him.

In order to beat Anaheim, we need it to be a 7 game set and we need home field. And I still think that isnt enough. You really dont understand, I want the sox to face Anaheim and I will actually have to pull for Boston. We suck in Anaheim and they play us tough at home, so I'd much rather play Boston.

Dipre, I am thinking that this back injury is something that is gonna linger. He had nerve impingement that left a leg weak. He's had something like 4 cortisone shots and he still looks like he's got a pole up his ass. I don't think its an effectiveness thing. I think this is an injury thing, and back injuries in the over 40 crowd tend to be chronic

The Brewers will have the leverage to ask for a good amount for Hardy, who is coming off a rough yr. But by sending him to the minors, they saved an arbitration yr on him and can still say that an injury marred bad season is the only thing standing in the way of him having 3 consecutive 20 homer seasons as a starting shortstop. There will be a market for him, and I guarantee someone offers more than Delcarmen for him.

You don't need to fear the yankees. I don't fear the red sox. I actually hope we run into each other again in the playoffs, cause that means we wont have to play Anaheim.

He's done IMO. The fact that the sox are in a heated playoff chase and Timmay hasnt been able to be useful since July due to a chronic back condition makes me think he hangs em up.

Lowell is gonna be untradeable in this economic market and when considering the needs in the AL unless the sox eat nearly the entire contract. He really is a DH who can play third. That being said, I think his value to the sox significantly outweighs what they get in return because of his ability to use the monster. It makes more sense for the sox to pay him to play in Boston than for the sox to pay him to play for someone else

Felix Doubront is not going to be a main piece for a guy like Hardy. Delcarmen and somebody who is actually close to the bigs is a probable starting point.

I do actually. I think his problem is more mental than anything else. Last yr, he was pumping every pitch at 96-98 as a starter. Thats really close to his max. I think he needs to learn that he has to at least show his big fastball at times rather than run away from it.

They're both kids. Give them some leeway. Joba is gonna be a big key to our future success.

I think he can have an impact on this team in 2010 out of the bullpen. Maybe he needed the Hughes treatment? Regardless, this guy is going to have an impact in the majors eventually, he is too good not to. Whether it be in the pen or the rotation or in another league we will find out

I am not worried about the bullpen. Also, we are seeing a lot of B lineups of late with Girardi. The concern has to be squarely in the corner of the rotation. CC and Pettitte are reliable. Burnett looked really good in his last start and has had some really good stretches with us but has been hot and cold. But Joba has been on some sort of cold streak and relying on him out of the rotation is gonna be dicey. -

Jimmy Clausen might be securing himself a first round spot in this yrs draft. He looks amazing on the deep ball, is hitting the short routes, is scrambling well and is showing his toughness. -
5 runs in the 8th, the Twins are up by 4. If they sweep tomorrow, then they'll be down by 1 game with a dozen or so to play.

Now, I dont want to dampen your enthusiasm. He is absolutely a guy to watch. But its really, really, really hard to draw anything from just a short season numbers game. I think he bears watching when he cracks the long season leagues.
