  1. Lester, over the past 2 seasons, has been your ace. Last yr, he took a step forward to be one of the top 10 pitchers in the game with his K numbers. Buchholz has that kind of potential. I think his ceiling is what Lester was last season. But Lester, being left handed and capable of sitting at a higher velocity, is going to be better over the long haul, IMO. Regardless, if Buchholz continues pitching like this, then Casey Kelly becomes a lot more expendable. I think Theo labelled him untouchable since Buch was running out of options. Now that Buch is starting to put it all together, Kelly might not be that integral to the future of the team. Regardless, a big trade is going to go down this yr.
  2. No literature on Beltre's throws? You arent going to see any as long as he is making his throws. If he airmails a few more, then there will be. He doesnt have a customary over the top throwing motion. He throws it 3/4, which from the infield isnt recommended since you add some tail to it and if you get under the ball, you can sail it. But, if he does this with remarkable accuracy, nobody is going to care
  3. Wall ball double today. He's starting to figure it out. I will be laughing at this thread.
  4. SO the question now is, what to expect from Cano? Right now, his line is .407/.444/.791/.1.235 I know he isnt keeping that up, although he has hit as high as .342 over an entire season. My biggest question is whether this power surge continues. Remember, he has played only 6 games at home and he has 8 homers. He's hit a number of wall ball doubles as well, which would be homers in NY. Regardless, he is out of his mind good right now. On defense, he looks smooth and seems to make all the plays now. And at the plate, he is maturing into a dominant offensive force. He is on pace for nearly 50 walks and 64HRs. The homers wont keep up, but I expect the walks to pick up even more as his hot streak continues. Regardless, this is the Robby Cano we have been waiting to see. The season when he finally figures it all out and instead of putting up solid lines with above average power, he reaches his potential. I see 30+ homers here and a maturation into the middle of the order that makes Tex to ARod to Cano seem like there is no dropoff.
  5. 5-4 after spending 2/3 of the trip on the West Coast is really good. If you are rooting for the yanks and the rays to win 55% of their west coast road trips, then you are rooting for the wrong thing. We go home for a few. 14-7 and have only played 6 home games. And last yr, NY was the best home team in baseball. Uh oh.
  6. 9 of his 17 career HBP are Yankees. It isnt whining, it is fact. Lester, dont be bitter that Joba likes aiming for Youk's earhole. Somebody has to throw at the sox after all the yrs of Pedro plunkings. Did you expect Francoma to come out and blast Pedro through the media in 2004 for hitting Yankees? Really?
  7. When Burnett is on, does anyone look better? It's like they dont even see the ball
  8. ARod and Tex not hitting, yankees still rolling. Cano is in another world right now
  9. Tejada hit that ball and styled at the plate, like he hit it out. He didnt even reach the warning track
  10. Marcus Thames just dominates lefties. Love that pickup
  11. Burnett has looked completely untouchable thus far
  12. The sox have been playing just a bit better than their opponents, and these teams are due to be cellar dwellars. They have done well to beat the teams that they should and start righting their ship. Starting May 3rd, they enter an absolutely brutal stretch and will need to play much better than they are now.
  13. Either that or they had him work out behind the plate and liked what they saw. There are plenty of guys who get signed for big money with the hope of them catching. The Yankees did it last yr with JR Murphy. The kid played OF and 3b mostly, and only limited behind the dish. But in workouts, he was dynamite in terms of quickness and arm, he just needed fine tuning. My guess is that the sox see his bat as big league level and his defense as potential big league within 2 yrs
  14. Gom, that is how he has swung his entire life. That isnt changing. His problem recently has been that he is collapsing his back side and popping everything up. The past few games, he has been rectifying that and the balls have been hit with much more intensity. He'll break out soon enough
  15. Wow, these Jays are potent. Makes Beckett's start even more telling. This team cannot even make contact vs good pitching. Yet they pounded Beckett
  16. Dear Joe Girardi, CC Sabathia is an awesome workhorse. But, when up by 5 in the 8th, you can try to mix in some of your other relievers so they dont get rusty when you actually need them to be useful. Thanks JM
  17. These pinch hitters are really doing their jobs
  18. Lester looked really good. That being said, he fell behind a few guys and seemed to get them to chase out of the zone a lot. A more patient lineup may have gotten him out of there earlier, but not sure anyone was gonna touch him. His curve was pretty sick
  19. 8-2, CC solid through 6, should see the pen.
  20. 25 runs in 9 innings, then 3 runs in 14 innings. Amazing
  21. Cano stays hot, Swish and Grandy seem to be breaking out and CC is in control. Looking good thus far
  22. We need to get our real lineup back tomorrow. No more Winn. Helluva way to end the game. f***!
