Most Yankee fans are ignorant, the rest are annoying.
Occasionally, you get someone who was born into it (like we were) and they know their history, they know who's pitching for them tonight, and can name 3 or 4 players in their starting lineup. Those fans are rare; they have been unfortunately predestined. I look upon them with pity; they never had a chance to choose good over evil. They are tolerable to some extent.
The great majority of Yankee fans like the way the hat looks. They can't name more than two starters and still think Clemens wears pinstripes. A brilliant Red Sox observer once noted that they are, "A mile wide and an inch deep." Poetry in my opinion.
