  1. i like this. If he's awful all we gave up was cash and it's not like we don't have a lot of it.
  2. what team is Matt LaPorta playing for in the Cape League?
  3. Any word on LaPorta?
  4. loretta was brought in to play a solid second base and be the prototypical 2 hitter
  5. why would we even consider tradin WMP? You can't compare Wily with Kapler, Wily Mo is SOOOOOOOOOOO much better
  6. Could be a steal, considering how fast he is. If he can get on-base more, he'll be lethal and he still has time to develop that skill.
  7. I would definetly trade Murphy, but I wouldn't trade Pedroia unless we could get Giles and why would we trade for Giles because we have Loretta.
  8. he should definetly play football in the pros.
  9. Taking a look at Smoltz's stats, his K/9 has decreased, but his BB/9 has also increased to a so-so 3.52. His ERA has also fell for 4 straight seasons. A good sign is that his BABIP is at a good .297, which could go up, but also could go down.
  10. yeah... It's a little early to say that he is our next catcher.
  11. i really don't think that the Sox will trade Pedroia. I don't think Smoltz is the type of pitcher we need. We need a back of rotation starter on the cheap, not a 40 year old 'ace' for a couple of good prospects.
  12. those numbers are very good for a catcher these days. If he still only has one error, I think he is legitimate just because of the rare defense+hitting package for a catcher.
  13. Oliver Perez would be a good low risk pickup. But for me to do it, I only wanna give up nothing more then a A ball 'spect. If we could get a pitcher under 30 for a A ball prospect, I would do it right away.
  14. It's been said, but LaPorta and Anderson are supposed to be hard to sign. I think Belt is supposed to be difficult also.
  15. good news about Kap. I think he'll give us a RF'der when LHP's are on the mound and he'll give us some speed off the bench. I'm not sure, but his speed might be affected by his injury. Snyder was drafted by the Royals in the 1st round (7th overall). Hasn't really pitched well at all in the Majors (121.3 IP, 58 K's, 31 BB's, 2-9, 76 ER). Hopefully he'll be a cheap pluck of the cheap heap. Good low risk move by Theo.
  16. a lot of people think that the D-backs and the Dodgers have the best chance of getting him because of their farm systems.
  17. oh, didn't see those stats.
  18. Once Foulke comes back, I think the Sox should dump him. Until then, try to give him so innings in a mop up sort of role. Don't pitch him in any kind of high leverage situation.
  19. I don't see how the Jays could get him because they don't have much impact young talent, but your right, there is the possibility of them going after him.
  20. So long as the Yankees don't get him, I'm fine with him getting traded.
  21. There was speculation at baseballprospectus.com that the Sox may be showcasing Murphy. If he keeps hitting like this, the Sox could get great value for him. If you look at his AA stats, they weren't jaw dropping, so there wasn't a really good reason to promote him. About Moss, I think Murphy is much better, I think Moss won't be more then a 5th outfielder if his bat doesn't come around soon. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Sox package him in a deal around the deadline. Or maybe the Sox want to trade Murphy, not Moss. The reason for that thought is that they didn't promote him, but I don't think his AA stats were as good as Murphy's.
  22. yeah. It's better to have him playing in AAA rather then sitting on the bench at the big league level wasting his service time
  23. yeah. It's better to have him playing in AAA rather then sitting on the bench at the big league level wasting his service time
  24. How'd Choi and Murphy do? Do you guys know when the next Paw Sox game on NESN is? Going back to Pedroia, I think that if he is ready and the Sox are have 100% confidence in him, they should call him up, but, you guys have convinced me, that if he's not ready he shouldn't come up and waste a 40 man roster spot by sitting on the bench.
  25. this could be the end for The Big Guy. If it is the end, that was a sad way to see him go. I like him and I hope he can come back and give us some quality innings. As for Pauley, if he doesn't show us anything, I think it's time to trade for a 4/5 starter and a solid bench player to complement Cora and WMP (when he comes back). Perhaps packaging Snow and a low level prospect?
