  1. Gibbons had several publicly released complaints upon returning from injury to find his job occupied by Nick Markakis
  2. I actually think that Jay Gibbons has fallen out of favor in Baltimore and they will have either Payton, Millar or Huff DH, and trade Gibbons for a pitcher
  3. Devern Hansack!!! Oh god, this is going to be interesting at best
  4. I just am throwing this out here. I think Tiki Barber is the biggest weenie, baby, ******* is sports right now. If I were a Giants fan I would be pissed off. The guy ran for 230 some fricking yards last night and announced early in the season that he is retiring. This guy is ridiculous. People are talking about putting him in the hall of fame, but anybody who walks away like he is should be ashamed. His team has suffered, not lived up to potential, could and should have a high seed and has failed. Now he will walk away from a city that has embraced him. He is in his prime and everybody knows it. Tiki Barber should never be honored for his football playing days because he does not care enough about the game or his teammates and city to accomplish his full potential.
  5. No. Very little chance. Sorry to be blunt, but that is the way it is.
  6. My favorite option at this point is get Clemens and give Paps his job back
  7. Suppan has signed with the Brew Crew for 42 mil
  8. I understand the White Sox have dealt a good portion of their rotation, but I think the Rangers will eventually be the losers in this deal. Danks could be a number one or solid number two in a few years, while McCarthy's top role will likely be a number 3 on a decent team.
  9. The Yanks and Sox have to pay the luxury tax, the only two teams in the league. The Yanks will pay 26 million, the Sox about 500 K. It may make us look extravagant, but I would rather root for a team completely committed to winning than one worried about finances.
  10. Runlevys big problem is control. He is a wild pitch machine at times.
  11. I have watched Alvarez pitch personally in the minors and almost every out goes to the warning track. Against major league hittters in fenway, he would get beat up.
  12. a700 has a point. Hernandez is much better than Abe, or at least can be. With Runlevys you have about a 50 percent chance of getting a winning performance. With Abe, you might have a 20 percent.
  13. if you remember, there was a rumor of us acquiring Cordero in a big 3 way manny deal. Then it was Coco and a prospect I believe. Lidge has not gone through any formal offers. Otsuka is just getting on the market. It will take Coco and a good prospect or several prospects to get any of them, unless we trade a good major leaguer (not likely)
  14. I was looking for it and couldn't find, it, but wasn't there a second incident in which another comebacker barely missed him, and results started dropping? I cannot find a video, but remember something like that. If anybody remembers completely, please tell.
  15. That deserves an owned.
  16. And this completely changed him for the worse.
  17. Yeah, I remember I used to watch all of Clement's starts I could on WGN when he was with the Cubbies because I loved his slider. I was very excited when the Sox got him, and then his career just took a downspin. That slider was deadly. He could have been a great pitcher had he been able to control the pitches to set it up. That was the problem.
  18. thanks Coco
  19. THe Yankees have won 26 World Series. The AL has won 60. 34 is a little more than a couple.
  20. well woesn't that a reasonable reaction
  21. that is asking a bit too much don't you think?
  22. when I said value, I meant like one B- pitching prospect that was young.
  23. Bob Melvin has declared that his team has offered Suppan a 4 year deal. This comes on the heels of Suppan meeting with the Mets yesterday.
  24. There is a big difference is spending most of the season in the majors and most of the season in AAA. David Murphy is a decent hitter and an adequate defensive player. Melky I think can be viewed as a decent and improving hitter with plus defensive skills. Plus, Melky is 3 years younger. Murphy is fine as a 4th or 5th outfielder, but if value can be had for him in prospects, it should be taken.
  25. The Rangers are going to want a starting pitcher
