  1. that is weird, when were they going to announce this?
  2. apparently he was added for a position player maybe Rios or Cano?
  3. Has everyone seen the starting pitchers for the All-Star Game AL: Kenny Rogers NL: Brad Penny I realize that the AL's hands were tied due to Halladay Santana and Contreras all pitching on Sunday, but Brad Penny? How about Brandon Webb or even Bronson Arroyo? I do not like the starting pitching matchup, it seems cheap.
  4. If he actually did that, I think Mirabelli would be better because he is a catcher and understands the skill of pitching
  5. um, we already have a thread for this in rumors central, but yeah, it would definitely involve lots of other people, not just Abreu for Trot Mods want to move this?
  6. Fox Sports is so unreliable, I mean, that lineup is laughable. David Ortiz in the 2nd spot with Loretta 3rd is insane, Jeter at 5 and Vlad at 6? holy cow, where did they get that?
  7. if we pitch him in situations that are not stressful, we have a small chance at building him back up to past form, but he probly still won't be as good as Paps, but you know, it might be worth a shot, depending on what the want, anything involving Lester Hasnen or Pedroia has got to be a no
  8. i do not disagree with that possibility, as long as he doesnt completely implode so we cannot get anything for him
  9. not necessarily him, but the fact that he is not making as much of an impact as Bronson Arroyo could be. Because one of the most glaring faults of this team is the lack of another quality starter.
  10. oh, no doubt he is better than Seanez, and Timlin is aging, but with Lidge: 1. Some clubs would probably offer him a closers role which would put more money in his future. 2. The Sox might be tempted to put him at closer next year and move Paps to the rotation Plus, with Manny D, Hansen, Paps and hopefully JVB soon, I'm not that worried about the bullpen. It is not the talent, it is the use of it. We were fine through 17 innings, or until we had to use Seanez. WE have 1, sometimes two weak links
  11. sub 1.5, lets shoot for sub 1!! :papelbon:
  12. yeah, my bad, I thought Baltimore was his coming out party though, he saved two games in two days and was dominant
  13. MVP-- I really want to say Youk, but there is no category for what I would call him but I'll go with Big Papi Comeback Pitcher--Schilling Comeback Position Player-- Lowell Cy Young-- Papelbon Best Glove --the infield, except for Papi Best Catch--Coco againt Wright, no denying that Biggest Disappointment of a Pitcher --Bronson Arroyo, that we don't have him Biggest Disappointment of a Position Player -- Wily Mo? adn Varitek
  14. i don't like the idea of Brad Lidge, he reminds me of a Matt Clement case. Ever since Pujols belted that one out in the NLCS, he just chokes on save situations, nothing physically wrong, he just isnt right mentally
  15. June 29th against the Mets the best I think But the first two saves from Papelbon, on April 7 and 8th in Baltimore, especially the first one on the cold wet night that Schill started. It was a masterful performance from the Schill and even better by Paps, absolutely brilliant. Paps popped the ball out of Tek's glove three times in the ninth, he was blazing. It was the first of the trend this year showing that we do not have to hit tons of homers to win. On a bad note: Coco also got injured trying to steal 2nd and 3rd on consecutive pitches, but Paps' emergence was great.
  16. the goalie is at such a disadvantage in PKs, it is pure luck and good guesswork if a goalie manages to stop one.
  17. I love Paps, and I think he probably deserves it right now, but the fact is, the voters shy away from two things with CY Young winners: rookies and relief pitchers. He is both. If Liriano continues this, I still think it will be a close race between he, Halladay, Santana, and possibly another, like one of the Detroit pitchers, all of them have been good, if one stands out, he could win.
  18. i think the only reason the Sox are talking is to drive up the Yankee's price
  19. it is like a fight in the Super Bowl, emotions run high congrats to Italy, even though I hate when a game ends in PKs
  20. he has been tremendous at Fenway, if he can keep the home run ball down the rest of the season, I think he should be a top priority to re-sign
  21. Zidane scores on PK in 7th minute, brought about by a dive in the box
  22. I don't really like it, but I'm picking: France 2 Italy 1 I love how my picks are usually wrong, Go Italy!
  23. i like Allan Ray a lot, i hope he makes it
  24. i hate McCarver more than any other announcer in sports, even Rosenthal
