  1. Welcome back to the bigs JVB! and Wily Mo
  2. I think Houshmandzadeh is going to have a really good year (I drafted him in this league). I would not be that keen on Watson as your first tight end. I would suggest going after Chris Cooley of the Redskins. I'm a Pats fan who hates the Skins, but Cooley is a big part of that offense. Running backs and defense look excellent, I guess receiving might be a small concern, but no major problems, good team 8.5
  3. i have to say I think you are right:dunno:
  4. Also agreed, put Youk in the nine spot, so his OBP does not go to waste Also, since Varitek is slumping, has anyone thought about maybe giving Mirabelli another pitcher to handle, or just play him more often than when Wake pitches, maybe just temporarily to see if Tek can get himself back into a groove?
  5. sorry, I do not see Bobby Abreu coming to Boston, and I might be wrong, but we are not a serious contender in this sweepstakes in my opinion. I think he will head either to Detroit or New York
  6. thank you, yes. If we just get a solid guy in the 4 or 5 spot that will keep us in games consistenly, that is a big move, even if it is Woody Williams, Cory Lidle, or someone we haven't talked about yet
  7. there is no way Paps will leave the closers role this year, you cannot take a guy from one inning of work 4 or 5 times a week and hope he can immediately give you quality starts he would get hurt next year maybe, but we can do something much better for our future if we just trade for someone solid, we do not need an ace of staff
  8. I think they really want a left handed bat, which is why they want Abreu plus, it might take one of their good young pitchers to get soriano
  9. i really do not think either deserve a boo, who cares that Doug took the ball?
  10. just a thought, is there a record for the most letters in the last name of the infield players of one team Mientkiewicz Graffanino Grudzielanek
  11. what brings a boo on Doug M----------
  12. Tony G gets my bigger boo
  13. This is a new post from MLBtraderumors.com: St. Paul Pioneer Press: Tigers Close To Abreu Deal I can't determine who actually wrote this, but it is a published report in the St. Paul Pioneer Press. It's called Don't Print That and has a smattering of rumors from various sports. The baseball notes: "A little birdie says the first-place Detroit Tigers are close to a deal with the Philadelphia Phillies for right fielder Bobby Abreu. The Guardians, in town to play the Twins, are talking about trading Aaron Boone to the Los Angeles Dodgers." We've all heard of the Tigers' interest in Abreu, so we'll have to see what comes of that rumor. As far as Aaron Boone, I can't fathom why the Dodgers would want to actually give up a player or cash to acquire the worst third baseman in baseball. I think Bill Mueller on crutches could outhit Boone.
  14. I understand that Pedroia is coming, but starting him full time next year probably is not going to happen, and I feel like another year with Loretta and Gonzo is better than Gonzo/Cora and Pedroia/Cora platoons in the middle
  15. We don't need a shortstop. We have a good shortstop, as a second baseman and hitter, Mark Loretta is the better player
  16. see, that isnt even the pitch the article described, the Yahoo might be crap, but that still is a great pitch
  17. really, well I would be happy have him, we just usually dont sign Japanese guys out of japan
  18. but it breaks to the side, not really down from what ive seen
  19. about 96 MPH Beckettt95 by the way, the Yankees and Mariners are already showing interest with Boras
  20. its probably crap, but you never know
  21. by the way, in my original post I was aiming at getting Young, I just threw Woody in as a possibility
  22. not if it is a big move, but these are possible moves, there will not be any Red Sox pitching blockbusters, I'm just saying moves, not blockbusters, and I cannot imagine that you think a Kyle Snyder/Jason Johnson platoon is better than Woody Williams or Cory Lidle
  23. Woody's numbers don't look that bad, and acquiring Lidle for a number 5 starter is not a small move. There are only a couple really big pitchers out there and I do not think we will be picking up an ace. Woody's #s this year W-L ERA K Walks WHIP 4-1 3.08 33 14 1.23
  24. I will just speculate on something "big" i can see Theo doing: 1. Trading Rudy Seanez David Murphy to Padres for one of their good starters, like Chris Young or Woody Williams 2. Something in the way of prospects not named Lester or Hansen to the Phillies for Cory Lidle
  25. he called for the Braves to get relief help yesterday for them to make a run at the wild card this is not a bad team. They have been playing better lately, and of course they have a shot at the Wild Card in the National League
