  1. so, who wants to guess? I'm betting on Abe
  2. http://www.dispatch.com/2006/04/10/20060410-Pc-D1-0700.jpg Jake Westbrook 7-7, 4.31 @ http://images.tsn.ca/images/stories/20060411/beckett_57671.jpg Josh Beckett 13-5, 4.76 The Red Sox go try and take 3 of 4 from the Cleveland Guardians tonight at Fenway Park. In the series, their two wins have both come on walkoff hits off of Fausto Carmona, Cleveland's young closer. Mark Loretta ended the game with a bases loaded double last night. Jonathon Papelbon picked up his 3rd win after Jon Lester put himself in position for a win with a solid start. Josh Beckett will be taking the hill without Jason Varitek. In two starts with Doug Mirabelli, he is 2-0, including an 8 inning shutout of the Kansas City Royals. Jake Westbrook will be on the mound for the Guardians. He pitched against the Sox on April 25th, going 5 innings, giving up 6 hits and 6 walks, but only 2 ER in a game won by the Sox, 8-6. Tonight's game will be televised on ESPN2 and NESN.
  3. yeah, volleyball was invented in Massachusetts too, that doesn't mean it is more important than the Red Sox to the people.
  4. i just want to know what this guy is watching that would make him use the Arroyo-WMP trade as his lead argument for firing Theo
  5. Ok Rich in Redmond, go on thinking that and you will likely get laughed right out of this forum. Bronson is a decent pitcher, but he is also pitching in the National League. Wells is not that bad, and we definitely do not need to give up any of those young pitching prospects, because they are the pitching you are looking for. Please, print that post out and look at it in 5 years when Wily Mo is a great power hitter and those pitching prospects are the main pieces of our staff.
  6. well, it isn't necessarily about the D. It is about knowing the pitchers and being a maticulous game planner. Guys can call good games, but they do not know our young pitchers. Screwing up Lester, Hansen, MDC and Paps is the problem spot. I'd even be worried about messing up Beckett
  7. Bill Simmons and ESPN pose an interesting question. http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/fp/flashPollResultsState?pollId=38381 Simmons Column I know Bird won more rings, but Papi's was as Simmons says, more significant. In terms of clutch, it is Papi, in terms of overall greatness, I'm taking Bird for now. Thoughts?
  8. Clement and Johnson are virtually the same effect, except Clement has been good before, whereas Johnson has been like this his whole career. So basically Clement gives you a slightly better chance, as in like 1%, of having a great game.
  9. yes, I do, but I was just saying it as a possibility
  10. oh god, Matt Clement doesn't look that terrible anymore
  11. exactly, doesn't this thread just summarize the whole fricking season!
  12. how about trying to trade with the Braves for Jarrad Saltamacchia
  13. well, I guess this should be called the season discussion board, because that is kind of why they play the games. I don't know if the Sox will win the division now, but I do believe we will make the playoffs
  14. what??? I don't know what you said there, but he will not be up this season barring injury. He could be a starter at some point next season
  15. almost hit for the cycle last night, I think Papa Jack has done a great job with him already
  16. trot and gabe are not progressing, they are regressing, Trot is injured, and Kapler's purpose is being served, to be in the clubhouse. Wily Mo is the starter
  17. yeah, I would agree with Kilo, this team was good enough to be the second best team in baseball up until this point, we keep what we have and now we are chop liver? I would have liked to see a good 4 pitcher come in to solidify the rotation, but Wells might come back and be what we are looking for, so we'll see. I do not think not making a move will be our downfall.
  18. Jorge Sosa to Cardinals after the Braves placed him on waivers
  19. CBS Sportsline reporting this as well
  20. Ryan Shealy just got traded to the f***ing Royals!
  21. Lugo deal is screwed, I still think something could be going with the Pads and Rockies
  22. Metsblog.com says that grumblings from the MLB office are that a Soriano deal has been done, no report on to whom though
  23. whoops, I forgot to make that a link , but yeah there it is
