I would love to drop all this Lugo s*** and pick up Jason Schmidt, what is the market for a quality mid-30's pitcher these days? How much would we have to give up?
If I am not mistaken, BP has even created their own statistics to better measure a player's help to his team, not just individual numbers, as in Value over Replacement Player. It gives you a much better understanding of the value and skill of a player.
I know this happened yesterday, but did anyone hear the other guy in the booth talk about Manny in a mink coat and a batting helmet made of noodles? I lol'd.
Ken Rosenthal reports that it will be announced soon. This means Loretta to the Cardinals, if we get Lugo, will not happen.

s*** Lidge for Loretta I'd piss myself.
One problem, he crumbled in the NLCS, could do it here in a high-octane spot. But maybe not if he's a 8th inning guy.
I prefer to see Nixon the rest of the way in right, and if we trade a Loretta, I would like to see another 2B (looks like Lugo) fill in. You're right on the first one, if we can trade, say, Delcarmen and Murphy for a good (not Mark Redman, dammit) pitcher, I would be excited.
I was nervous coming into the deadline, but this trade is perfect, as long as we aren't giving up a top prospect (Murphy/Martinez would be fine), this is great.
Lugo is an exciting player. He can hit pretty well and has a decent glove (downgrade from Loretta), but he is very fast. He would fit well in a #2 spot in the lineup, which is perfect.
I'm just nervous, hoping we:
a. Don't trade a top prospect (Lester, Hansen, Delcarmen, Pedroia, Ellsbury, Bowden, Buchholz, etc.)
b. Don't trade a position player and leave a hole that is filled by a Wily Mo Pena or Alex Cora.
But yeah I'm pumped.
