While it likely is a factor, it is not the single reason. The fact is, a bunch of teams just don't have room for him. The Red Sox would normally be in the running, but obviously are not. The Yankees got Tex as their big bat of the offseason, and along with Swisher, they have no room in the outfield without a trade. The Angels and Mets have said they're out. The Phillies have Ibanez, the Brewers have Braun, the Cubs have Soriano. The Tigers and White Sox are full in space and payroll and want to get younger. Most other teams don't want to commit that much money to a single player or simply do not have enough money. The Dodgers seem to be the likely destination since every other big market team is basically out, but we'll see.
