  1. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3785786&campaign=rss&source=MLBHeadlines Doumit signed a 3 year extension.
  2. Correct me if I'm wrong: If the Jets lose, then next week the Pats need to win and have either the Dolphins or Ravens lose to make the playoffs?
  3. You can't do that? 31-0 at the half. Thanks, Cards.
  4. I don't think it works like that for the Sox. You might get a Packers-esque waiting list if so.
  5. Daniel Cabrera to Nats
  6. Well, it was still a stupid move by the Phillies for my reason.
  7. I know this wasn't directed at me, but I'll chime in. With the change of LF from Burrell to Ibanez, the Phillies made a bad move. For one, Burrell's biggest weakness (fielding) wasn't really corrected. Ibanez is terrible in the field. Maybe not as bad as Burrell, but close. They should have offered Burrell arbitration, and if he accepted they would have had him for about 1/15 (two draft picks if he doesn't). Burrell is five years younger than Ibanez, and the Phils have Ibanez through his age 38 season as opposed to Burrell in his age 32 season. Considering the two have posted very similar numbers recently, why wouldn't you take the smaller commitment and almost certain .870+ OPS over the larger commitment and almost guaranteed decline?
  8. RBI is not a very good stat to judge a player. I don't think Jacko was specifically saying that Abreu will get 15. I agree, it will be around 10-12 IMO. But you said: Why does he get less than Ibanez? Ibanez's OPS's over the past three years have been: .869, .831, .837. Abreu's have been: .888, .814, .842. Abreu is also a couple of years younger, and will give you 20 more SBs.
  9. He's consistent and he'll put up .290/.370/.460, but he's not what he used to be. He would still be a valuable piece.
  10. Well I was wasn't being completely serious, but if he does pitch beyond 2010 (which would be, what, 47-48 years old?), that'd be awesome for him.
  11. Can't wait for a snowy game Sunday.
  12. RIP Jamie Moyer...in your retirement home. You will be missed, starting the winter of 2010.
  13. I honestly can't imagine it being that different...
  14. From another team's perspective, there's no way I take on Crosby, especially with his salary. He has not put up a .300 OBP since 2005.
  15. It's a minor league deal, and Kapler's a FA.
  16. That CD isn't by Bob Marley, it's a tribute (it came out 11 years after he died).
  17. We can save money by firing the interpreter, therefore is good for the franchise!
  18. pinstripezac's posts are an adventure to read.
  19. Intangibles! Knows how to play the game!
  20. The FA is thin (read: non-existant) for catchers. I would expect a trade if we get someone externally.
  21. Shall we compare our current #2's over the past two seasons? Matsuzaka: 372 1/3 IP, 33-15, 3.72 ERA, 1.32 WHIP, 355 K/174 BB Wang: 294 1/3 IP, 27-9, 3.82 ERA, 1.30 WHIP, 158 K/94 BB
  22. I would expect him to be extremely pricy.
  23. Still worth noting-if the Angels offer more money, it won't matter what side of the country they're on.
