  1. Things turned from promising to s***, and fast.
  2. Sidney Ponson is not on your team?
  3. The upside is that he is a good middle of the rotation starter. If he can do that, fantastic. But in the ALE, he probably can't.
  4. Meh. He really doesn't excite me. From 2004-08, in the NL West and a pitcher's park (Dodgers), he posted a: 46-33, 4.07 ERA, 1.36 WHIP, 2.14 K/BB, 6.13 K/9. If he can get back to 06-07 form then he's a good back end starter, but that's a big if.
  5. Considering what they gave up, I wouldn't call it a steal if he's only there for one season (or maybe even less if they're out of it early).
  6. While it likely is a factor, it is not the single reason. The fact is, a bunch of teams just don't have room for him. The Red Sox would normally be in the running, but obviously are not. The Yankees got Tex as their big bat of the offseason, and along with Swisher, they have no room in the outfield without a trade. The Angels and Mets have said they're out. The Phillies have Ibanez, the Brewers have Braun, the Cubs have Soriano. The Tigers and White Sox are full in space and payroll and want to get younger. Most other teams don't want to commit that much money to a single player or simply do not have enough money. The Dodgers seem to be the likely destination since every other big market team is basically out, but we'll see.
  7. Compared to the Randy Johnson deal, this is not a great contract.
  8. His agents are Dan Lozano & Jeff Borris.
  9. Heeeeere we go Jets!
  10. Uhh definitely not happening.
  11. Yup, Tek was great against lefties last year: .284/.378/.484. If we could primarily use him against lefties, that would maximize his production.
  12. Willie Bloomquist would be an interesting and cheap FA acquisition.
  13. Yeah Fielder is one of the premier players in the league and he still has a while before he hits FA.
  14. Ah. The whistles were pretty confusing, but the Bills still f***ed it up.
  15. My mistake, I read your post as having Crosby/Eckstein starting and Lowrie on the bench. I still don't really like either player, and I'd like a little more positional flexibility when it comes to bench players.
  16. That was a really weird play to end the half. Did they not call a timeout? Did they not have one?
  17. Jed Lowrie is better than Bobby Crosby. Eckstein sucks too. No thanks. Do I like the idea? Yes. But it's about as realistic as Gom banging dreilly.
  18. He would be way too expensive IMO.
  19. IMO if you can use Lugo in a trade like the Arizona one I suggested to get a catcher, that's even better.
  20. 1. Trade Bowden for Saltalamacchia OR Make some sort of trade for Miguel Montero and Eric Byrnes 2. Re-sign Tek for 2x7 3. Sign Ben Sheets for 2x14. Lineup: Ellsbury CF Pedroia 2B Ortiz DH Youkilis 1B Drew RF Bay LF Lowell 3B Lowrie SS Saltalamacchia/Montero/Tek C Rotation: Beckett Lester Matsuzaka Sheets Wakefield Bullpen: Papelbon Okajima Delcarmen Masterson Lopez Ramirez Littleton Bench: The Other Platooning Catcher Bailey Lugo (if not traded to Arizona) Byrnes
  21. Okay, so this is what you were talking about earlier I guess. This hurts the Brewers more than it helps the Yankees, since they have already lost their first 3 round picks.
  22. Congrats and good luck to MSUBulldogs and SFOC in the title game.
