  1. Last time Dice-K pitched was one of my favorite games of last year. He was terrible (4 1/3 IP, 5 H, 5 ER, 7 BB, 2 K), but the Sox came back from down 6-0 in the 6th to win 8-7. It put them over .500 for good. I'm looking for the same. Maybe with less drama.
  2. Very interested in seeing this game. Big sports day.
  3. You seem upset about something.
  4. Not going to read this GT because I can't imagine it's pleasant. Season's not over, Strasburg is an ace so this shouldn't be a shocker, etc etc.
  5. He had a short but terrific prime. In 2008 and 2009 he had an OPS in the mid .900s. He was great in the time he played in 2010, but had some injuries. Injuries have been troubling him for the last 3 years. That and age haven't helped. I think he'll still improve to the low .800s this year, but he's not an elite player anymore. I don't think there's any delusion, though. I'd guess my opinion isn't too controversial on this matter.
  6. Batting average is a bad way to measure players, and a really bad way to measure Ortiz. I can't emphasize enough how small of a deal this is. Last year Ortiz had a great year, he OPS'd .953 and hit 29 home runs in a full season. In April 2011, he went .267/.373/.395. In July of that year, he hit .253/.361/.458. In May 2012, he went .250/.341/.500. It's all in the peaks and valleys of the season. I urge you not to worry.
  7. "Huge" decline is a "huge" overstatement. He was unbelievable in April, and nobody should have expected him to keep that up. He had an .841 OPS in May which is pretty solid. He's played six games in June. Ortiz is the least of my concerns on this team.
  8. Good win. Best pitching performance for the Sox this year.
  9. I am rooting for Mark Prior to pitch for the Sox so badly. That would be awesome. My pipe dream is him coming up for a start when the Sox go to Wrigley. I know it won't happen...
  10. I'll be there again tonight. This time in the bleachers! Sox are 0-2 when I'm there so far, so...slump buster?
  11. Frustrating game. Didn't like the bunt in the 7th at all, nor running for Gonzalez, which resulting in having Podsednik up with 2 out and RISP. Get em tomorrow. Season's not over, etc..
  12. I go to school near DC too! Not there for the summer though, but I'd be doing the exact same thing. Hoping they make the playoffs so I can go. On topic, Dice-K shouldn't be worse than Bard has been lately, so I'm looking forward to it.
  13. Going tonight. Nothing like a cold and rainy game in June. Also, hitting 6th and playing RF is definitely what I had in mind for Gonzalez when they got him.
  14. Tough loss. Had my hopes up for a bit there. I'll be bringing Coco mojo to the next two.
  15. Oops was that part of the deal? Awkward...
  16. You said it both after 5-4 and then again after 6-4. That's why you said it twice. I remember because I took a mental note of how absurd it was.
  17. When they were a strike away yeah, but not when it was 2-0 in the 4th inning, and then 5-4 in the 7th inning
  18. Yeah. This. I'm gonna collect all the quotes...now. SALTY!
