    I think last season showed there's never a thing as too many pitchers. Sign Schilling, start the kids in AAA, and if there's an injury of some kind call them up. Curt Schilling > Jason Johnson and Kyle Snyder

    Manny has not showed the decline Helton has...and Helton played in the best offensive park in baseball during his peak years. Soooo....it's not really a lame argument.

    ^^Winner. Helton is not the same hitter he was a few years back. The amount of money that would have been tied up, and the length of the contract, of a hitter declining this much is not worth what it would take to get him. The Red Sox would have been better if they made the deal. But is Todd Helton worth that much?

    I don't knock Hansen either. I think they should keep both, and could do so to get Helton. Like I said, this is not a knock on Hansen. I just think people here are pumping him up to be something he isn't right now.

    Colorado is in the West too. The DBacks, Marlins, and Braves were all in the hunt because .500 was good enough to be in the playoff race. Not so in the AL.

    No one's really answered my question though. I keep hearing people say "if it's just Lowell, Tavarez, and MDC for Helton why haven't they done it yet?" Pitching at St. Johns doesn't inspire visions of future success. Now, THIS IS NOT A KNOCK AGAINST HANSEN. I just find it odd people are more willing to deal the worse pitcher in this supposed Helton deal as of now.
