  1. Briggs is gonna get paid I think. GB should look into it. Barnett, Hawk, Briggs. MmMmMMmmm.
  2. Adalius Thomas is a fantastic signing. Brady/Evans/Morris are great depth signings. Anyone who views Welker as anything outside a depth move is going to be disappointed, IMO. Don't expect a worldbeater there.
  3. The season does not start for another month. The season does not start for another month. The season does not start for another month. The season does not start for another month. 4. Gay. Oh well.
  5. Jeter the cheater? The only thing Jeter's ever cheated at is on ARod.
  6. I can't make Wednesday night, I'll be in NYC. I'm on Spring Break all this week...can we move it to the following Wednesday?
  7. I can be fairly flexible in terms of draft times, but I'd really love for it to be in the evening any day, M-TH, the week of the 12th.
  8. I am "The New Black".
  9. Matsuzaka, while impressive, benefited from a generous zone I think. Ellsbury's got jets. Man the kid is exciting.
  10. And Yankee fans can ponder if this is the year they can buy a championship.
  11. I don't think the player's union would ever go for that. 1st - 75 games 2nd - season 3rd - 2 seasons 4th - life I think this essentially shows the severity of the penalty, but at the same time won't let the player's union use the "He didn't know what he was taking" defense, now known as the Shawne Merriman defense. I mean by the 3rd time, it'd be doubtful any team would sign the accused anyway.
  12. I forgot to do this, I will when I get home tonight.
  13. Ummm, if Beckett is a back of the rotation guy, why can't he be a journeyman?
  14. Joe Horn was also cut from the Saints I believe.
  15. You seemed to have missed the point of my post. There are not many teams that can afford to pay Curt Schilling $13-15 million for one year of work. That would be a significant chunk of payroll to a lot of teams. I was looking strictly at the big market teams. The only big market team that I can honestly see putting up that kind of money for one year of Schilling is the Mets. They are the ones with the most glaring need in their rotation. Why do you think they are playing with fire? If Curt Schilling comes out and is back to the Curt of old, then you can sign him in the offseason, or maybe do a midseason deal a la Crisp and Ortiz. If he sports a 5.00 ERA, is he worth that much money? He's 40 years old and not getting any younger... If he can prove he still has it, then yes sign him. But why put that much money aside for an unknown?
  16. Where would Schilling sign if he has a good offseason? He's essentially a God in Boston. NYY? I highly doubt that. Toronto? They already threw big $$ at AJ Burnett LAA? With Weaver, Santana, Lackey, etc., they'll take on a 40 year old Schilling? Arizona? Does he want to pitch with RJ again? Will he choose to pitch for a losing team? So much hand wringing over such an insignificant issue. Again, I ask you. Read my post on the first page from SoSH, where Schilling himself says that everyone is making too big a deal over this and it will not affect his performance.
  17. Yeah it looks like the Avs aren't gonna make it this year. Damn shame too, Sakic is still among the best in the game.
  18. Haha, it's good to have another voice of reason whenever possible. Has anyone else noticed that the source is from the Herald, who for the most part, is the second tier paper in covering the Sox (after the Globe)? I fully believe this will not affect Schilling's performance this year. Why? Because if you read my post on the first page...HE SAID SO HIMSELF. If he is healthy and pitches effectively, the Sox will pay up. I've made my point in this thread. I'm tired of saying it over and over.
  19. Have you read the thread? I'm in full support of signing a healthy, effective Schilling for 2008. Based on what I saw last year...I am not 100% confident that Schilling can put up a 3.75 ERA and return to his 2004 effectiveness. The FO would like to see what they have in Schilling before committing over $10 million for a one year deal on him. Why is this being met with such fervor? It's a smart business decision. BTW, the 5.5 ERA wasn't a suggestion. it's indicative of his performance in the second half last season.
  20. I believe them when they say negotiations are over til the offseason. I believe the Red Sox will pay Schilling what he wants for a one year deal if he earns it. I believe that if Schilling decides he wants to pitch more than one year after this season he will pitch somewhere else in 2008. I believe none of this has any bearing on what the man did in 2004.
