  1. ...who is the favorite for Game 7?
  2. His players loved him and he was able to handle the pressure cooker of NYY better than ANY OTHER MANAGER during Steinbrenner's tenure. If the players give him credit for the turnaround, why don't you? Well, how did he manage them to a 14.5 game deficit? Tell me please. Typically I thought it was the team's record, and the relationship they had with the players, and how well they manage the relationships in the clubhouse. Torre has done a pretty good job on all three counts. If they aren't a crapshoot, don't blame him for his teams' losses the last three years. Blame the players. Look at Tom Gordon's career postseason numbers. He's been consistently bad wherever he goes. Didn't he get hurt? How come he was excellent in August/September last year, even though "he was being overworked"? Were you complaining when Vizcaino was supremely effective from June-September? Besides, in must win games in the middle of the season, would you rather he used Farnsworth? Bruney? Maybe because the starting rotation that's been assembled for him since them SUCKED BALLS. When your starters don't go past 5, you have to use your bullpen. Duhhhhhhhhh. Why do these guys give Torre so much credit then? So basically, you wanted Torre to pull a Lou Piniella? The sense of entitlement in this post is staggering.
  3. So the 9 straight division titles mean nothing?
  4. They were well aware of what he wanted in a contract, yet did not even try to accomodate him. For all of the success he brought the Yankees, it seemed like it was a slap in the face. Doesn't take away from the fact he was an awful signing. Hey, you can use hindsight with Theo's moves, so I can do the same with Cashman. "George" moves are such ********. It's a copout Yankee fans use when a move doesn't work. Again, hindsight....and that may have been the worst move ever. Maybe he realized Cashman built a s***** team around him. OK, how so? Or CMW s*** the bed. You say ToMAYto, I say ToMAHto. What moves did he make that cost the Yanks anything? That's fine. Cashman has gotten ZERO heat for the crappy teams he's fielded the last few years. Meanwhile, Theo gets killed on a regular f***ing basis. If the postseason is all about luck, you can't claim he should be fired because he didn't win there. He got them there, which is the most important thing. If you don't think the playoffs are a crapshoot, then you give Torre credit. Maybe the team just had a s***** pitching staff assembled for them...
  5. Krams Krew - offer sent.
  6. Joe Torre wanted job security. He wanted to manage til he was 70. [qute]Why on earth should we not be paid based on our accomplishments? I am paid that way in the real world. Joe Torre probably did his best managing job this season. The players attribute their success in the second half to him. He's a great players manager and sticks up for his guys in the pressure cooker of New York. Seems to me he did his job quite well. That's fine, but Torre has been supremely successful in his job. Job security Job security Job security Job security purple monkey dishwasher What games did Torre lose in the playoffs the last three years? He did. And you say Yankee fans have no sense of entitlement? LOL! Very few, but very few managers have his track record of success. Terry Francona will be paid handsomely when they extend his contract this offseason. No criticism for Cashman? The FO for leaving Torre twisting in the wind? Typical.
  7. How did he disappoint? Tell me plz. Then they would have given him more than one guaranteed year. Can't argue. Then what were the Carl Pavano, Jaret Wright, Kei Igawa signings, etc. Toree did more for the Yanks than any of those players did. Don't kid yourself. It was a one year offer. But Torre did his job well this year. Not his fault his players got injured or Cashman sucked at assembling a rotation. And again, it wasn't about the money. It was about job security. With the way he's been treated by the fans, the media, and the FO, can you blame the guy?
  8. Joe made it known he wanted to manage til he was 70. He's 67. At the very least he should have gotten more than one guaranteed year. This way NYY makes a pathetic attempt to save face.
  9. I posted that in the GT last night.
  10. The pretending is the one year deal portion.
  11. Maybe because it's been Yankee policy to NEVER negotiate in season until that was broken when Cashman wanted to talk to ARod this season? How does that look for Rivera and Posada, two of the main cogs of the Yankee dynasty?
  12. Nah UConn's got that on lockdown.
  13. [youtube=Beckett on Live TV]Zw8zHUjwvCo
  14. He has a rep for not being a good route runner. Rumblings he's out of shape this year too...

  16. I'd start Schilling but have Lester at the ready.
  17. For those who say "we need a spark", the starting 2B disagrees...
  18. You sound like me. I guess my presence was missed in this gamethread tonight. Let me start off by saying Cleveland is a bunch of bush league motherf***ers. Having Beckett's ex sing the national anthem was garbage, their towels are garbage, the fact they need the stadium PA to get amped is garbage. I loved the looks on their faces at the end of the game, like someone ran over their dog or something. f*** you, Cleveland. You don't know what suffering is. No wonder LeBron won't cheer for your f***ing team. Second, when does the discussion start for Josh Beckett being the greatest postseason pitcher ever? What more does he have to do? I know he needs more longevity, but what he has done in the postseason is absolutely atrocious. His stats read: 9 Games, 5-0 Record, 1.79 ERA, 73 K, 13 BB, 0.54 WHIP I loved the fact he yelled "POPUP" after Lofton's at bat. He's a rare breed, one that excels in the postseason. Lastly, I find it interesting that in 2003 and 2004, we were facing 3-2 deficits. We face a 3-2 deficit now. The difference is we're going home where we a better offensive team. Each time previous, we won game 6. Luckily for us, the guy who won Game 6 in '04 is starting Saturday night. Let me leave you f***ers with this....don't make plans for Sunday night.

  20. That I'd like. I bet Kay has his eyes on Dan Patrick's national radio spot. I hope the Yanks hire Girardi or Mattingly. Would LOVE to see how the vets respond to that.
