1. Nice job backtracking whore.
2. Thats horseshit, I'm sorry. Your anti-Torre bias leaves you missing the point, not me.

4. OK tek, prove hitting you 6th wasn't a s***** idea.
5. The Rockies are going to be a force in the NL for a long time. They are a real easy team to root for. Lots of guys who play the game the right way. That being said, I hope we f***ing crush them.
6. I'll be watching in about 45 minutes. edit - Manny is locked the f*** in.
7. Beckett is a monster. I am stuck doing group work so I'm Gamedaying it for now. Pedroia and Youk ain't half bad, neither.
8. lol @ bitter Cleveland fans. And what makes Boston a racist town exactly?
9. That and it makes the bottom 1/3 stronger.
10. Agreed. I think for all of the hand wringing that was done about the FO last season, this offseason, and even throughout this season (ex. not getting Dye), it seems that they have a pretty good plan in place and have no qualms about sticking to it. And honestly, if you look at the resume since the ownership group took over in 2001: 2002: 93-69, A 93 win team that doesn't make the playoffs?? 2003: 95-67, ALCS 2004: 98-64, WS 2005: 95-67, ALDS 2006: 86-76 2007: 96-66, WS So basically, we have 4 95 win teams in 6 years, an overall record of 563-409 (.579), an AL East Championship, four playoff appearances, and two pennants? Not to mention all of the drafts and other transactions... Yeah I'd say they've done a decent job.
11. I absolutely agree. Knock him for being below average for the first 50 games. But he was otherworldly in the following 112. So in that instance, he should not be punished for his or his teams performance. What's an extra $2 million to the Yankees? Why did they feel the need to cut his pay after one of his best seasons? Why introduce performance incentives when they had been taken away? Fact is, doing all of this on the heels of the 2nd half the Yankees did could be constured as an insult. if I was in Torre's position, I'd feel insulted too. While I agree that the teams with the two highest payrolls should be favorites to make the playoffs, I do not think it should be viewed as a "guarantee". Look at the Sox last year....if a team gets hit with a rash of injuries, what can you do about that? Look at the Yanks' first 50 games this year....if players under perform (besides ARod) what can you do about that? There is far, far too much uncertainty in baseball to take those things for granted. That's why I thought RS fans should enjoy the division as much as possible. Being the best team over 162 games means something. See my last point. I also think comparing managers to players is quite foolish.
12. ARod wasn't just OK in Seattle in the postseason. He was pretty damn good.
G|AB|H|2B|HR|BA 15|53|18|3|3|.340
An in 2000 against the Yankees...
AB|H|HR|BA|OBP|SLG|OPS 22|9|2|.421|.476|.737|1.213
14. Yes. I don't think they have any pitchers that remotely scare me, outside of Francis and Corpas. Fuentes is VERY hittable and their 7th inning guy is LaTroy Hawkins. That should tell you something. As for their rotation, I feel Jiemenez is too wild and prone to the long ball. Yeah, he could spin a gem, but I think the Sox's patience will wear him down. Fogg/Cook are "meh". The guy who could be tough is Morales, being a rookie pitcher and left-handed. But that's not enough to convince me we won't hit him. The layoff will hurt more than it will help. They have a good lineup...but is it better than ours? C - Varitek/Torrealba - Push, maybe slight edge to Colorado. 1B - Youkilis/Helton - Right now, it'd be advantage Youkilis. Over the season, Helton. Call it a push. 2B - Pedroia/Matsui - Edge Pedroia. SS - Tulowitzki/Lugo - Edge Tulo 3B - Lowell/Atkins - Edge Lowell b/c of Atkins' road split RF - Drew/Hawpe - Right now, advantage Drew CF - Ellsbury/Taveras - Push LF - Ramirez/Holliday - Slight Edge to Ramirez DH - Ortiz/Spilborghs - Huge edge to Ortiz All in all, lots of similarities. I'd take our top 5 right now (Ortiz, Ramirez, Lowell, Youkilis, Pedroia) over their top 5 (Holliday, Helton, Tulowitzki, Hawpe, Atkins).
15. I agree 100%. Playoff Tito is as good, if not better than, any current postseason manager.
16. Results after the Championship Series: COL def. ARI, 4-0 BOS def. CLE, 4-3
Poster|Points TheKilo|16 SOTK|14 ARod2212|14 ANiMAL|11 MANNYHOF24|11 redsoxrules|11 castigs850|11 das11209|11 rician blast|11 ksushi|9 Coco's Disciples|8 BudLight|6 jacksonianmarch|6 One Red Seat|6 Gom|3
We've learned one thing this season. Between his "Red Sox will win 87 games" prediction and this, Gom sucks at prognosticating.
17. Sweet, sweet schadenfreude.

19. I won't because I don't think they'll be down 3-0.
