I don't know. There's just so much awesomeness to this story.
If he goes back to the Yanks, Cashman looks like a fool. ARod would have to let his agent go. Boras looks like a fool.
If he doesn't, the Sox are still in play for the best player in baseball.
I'm loving every second of this.
That's ridiculous. Arizona was a team, according to their Pythag, that shouldn't have even made the playoffs.
Oh, and there's that whole thing about winning 21/22, and beating Arizona in the playoff series.
It's not that difficult to figure out.
If the Yankees are willing to spend $275 million for him, having them in the bidding process makes things tougher for anyone else involved in the ARod sweepstakes.
Ergo, the price for the end contract will be higher than $275 million.
Point of clarification for this thread - It appears everyone is saying sign Lowell if he'll accept a 3 year deal.
Fact is, he'll get more on the open market. So for this thread's purposes, signing Lowell comes with the fourth year.
Mike Lowell's second half BABIP was over .380. That is not sustainable going forward and I wouldn't offer him any more than three years.
IMO...the choice has to be ARod.
