If Haren is so cheap why does Beane want to trade him now? Wouldn't it make more sense to get another year or two out of him and then trade him when he's closer to being a free agent? It makes his trade value higher (costing less), but that makes his value to the A's higher as well. I don't see Haren being any easier to get than Santana. I can't see the A's being terribly eager to trade Haren (there could be something I'm missing) unless it's for a s*** load of young guys.

From all accounts it doesn't seem like the sox are willing to give up Ellsbury & Lester. It says the twins asked for a new package that included Lester. So I would take that to mean no Ellsbury then.

I started the "Yankees Suck!" chant in the red sox bar we were at when the news was heard. It was awesome!!! So what/who are the Yankees' options at third now? I honestly don't want him with the red sox and don't want to see lowell as a yankee... Arod as a red sox would seriously piss me off, maybe even more-so than when Damon became a yankee. But after seeing damon become a yankee, I could "deal" with lowell being a skankee. I'm in the business of emotions, not emotionless business.

This should go in the gamethread for tonight, but I'll be out. Jimenez for the Rockies SP tonight: I found this interesting @ http://colorado.rockies.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20071024&content_id=2281069&vkey=news_col&fext=.jsp&c_id=col His fastball consistently finds the high 90s on radar guns, and he has a big-bending breaking ball to go with it. He went five innings, giving up one run, in Game 3 against the Phillies on Oct. 6. In Game 2 of the NL Championship Series against the Diamondbacks in Arizona, Jimenez lasted 6 1/3 innings, surrendering a run on three hits, albeit with a second straight no-decision. I wonder how he'll do with the patient sox lineup? I remember reading somewhere else that he can be wild at times and seems to rely on batters swinging out of the strike zone.

Who gives a s*** if he doesn't show any emotion and has a clean outfit? Just because over-emotional fans are willing to die for a team, doesn't mean the players have to. He seems to be calm and not very emotional. They're in first, so I'm not going to bitch a whole lot about Drew. You'd still want his head even if he got dirty, you're just looking for stuff 'cause hes not as good as everyone hoped he could be. Focus on that, not this 100% ********. I'm willing to be he looks the same mid-coitus. Honestly, the win at all costs mentality is scary and show a HUGE lack of judgment. I think he'll do better next year, but it'll be interesting to see what happens with Ellsbury coming up and ready. They have to send someone off: Manny, Drew or Crisp. Hell, maybe Manny will play first and Youk will be back at third? HA! I'd get a kick out of that, It'd be like the having Harpo Marx @ first.
