Small vs Glavine.
Small has been awful in relief so far this yr with an era barely under 9, but he was a different beast as a starter last yr. Big difference with him is that he isnt attacking the inside part of the plate like he did last yr. His stuff is not good enough to go away all the time. Glavine has been the man so far for the Mets, but the yankees own left handed pitching (11-2 this yr). Then again, the lineup the yankees have resembles the clippers lineup more than a yankee lineup, so stats can be thrown out the window.
The big question, though, is that if the yankees need a closer, they will be hard pressed to find one. Mariano and Proctor threw 3 innings apiece over the last 2 games and will likely be inactive for today's game. Farnsworth is achy right now with spasms in his back. If he can go tonight, then he'll close, but if he cannot go then we have a dilemma. Colter Bean was just brought up and has been great in the minors. I hope he is not the guy who closes, but who else do we have? Villone?- Maybe. Myers?-NO. Erickson?. HELL NO. Win or lose, I hope it is out of reach early...
