  1. That may be true but he never had a dedicated catcher like tek before. Plus, he had his knee worked on and I believe that may be part of the problem. we'll get to see if that makes a difference this year plus he will know the hitters better. I just hope he doesn't get mentally whipped from all of the trade rumors
  2. It's all about the pitching anyhow. keep clement for the first half - he was 13-2 before he ran into bad luck last year. Then decide.
  3. beckett is a big puppy and will dent some ribs this year. the yankmees won't run out of the dugout again after zim made them a public laughing stock. you're right pc, in the old days they would head hunt even though they might get some in return. the sox have to get nasty this year esp with those that dive in - jeter a-rod - to try and drive the outside pitch.
  4. Wonder if he was flying a c model "Hog". old #7 is more of a preservative. have to wonder what the mfy posters are doing during the void.
  5. he knows he has tek right there to run interference plus there is no payback because he'll never step in the box to take a pitch.
  6. I love it when bronson tries to pitch in, he's such a bad boy.....
  7. pc, still too soon to tell but I'm confident that theo will get us crisp. if we get gonzo he'll hit 9th unless we want youk to hit there as another leadoff type player. we'll know more around Monday or so.
  8. just out wheelin' the stang over lunch. the youngest is due back in late march - just got an email from him. he was out hunting bad guys and they came up with a few heavy duty rags. they won't die fats enough. probably some others vets - theyjust haven't stepped forward yet. old,we ain't stinkin' old, just aged....
  9. I'd rather keep clement because he will do better this year. move him at the trading deadline if he doesn't pan out.
  10. pc, crisp would be the choice for lead off if he joins the sox -he is a switch hitter, has some speed and will go from 1st to 3rd an a single. youk is not speedy. I'd put him down in the 7/8 hole to start another leadoff role where gonzalez can move him over.
  11. hammer, I was in the Cav in the 70's. AA is the 82nd.
  12. give the boy a chance. where have I heard that before......
  13. Americal man here from the BH post. located in Virginia but grew up in Lexington. been a sox fan since the early 50's - yes I'm old - and will participate when work allows. Like most of the other BH posters, we discuss the sox and don't have much tolerance for mfy fans.
  14. mr c, you're right, I musty have forgotten about that article in the Post I read. wonder if it will spread....
  15. I would hope so. be interesting on what the lineup is going to be once the final pieces are in place. really like to see crisp as the lead off hitter - he is the key acquisition. loretta should be in the two hole with papi, manny, tek?, trot, lowell, youk, and ss ropunding it out. maybe we slide lowel in tek's slot just to give tek more rest this year - he really faded in the stretch last year.
  16. tmw, we have to give lowell a bye for right now. unlike millar who just forgot how to hit, he should do well in fenway and we get more than we think we will. maybe if youk gets to play every day he will get in a groove and get a better feel for the plate. ST will tell us more as youk is coming in knowing he finally has a position even if it is only for one year.
  17. tmw, don't forget that lowell was a gg last year - but of course jeter once got a gg too so maybe that is overrated.
  18. What I've read about him is that he's there with the glove but hasn't doen too well against better pitching. Since he was not a consideration in the crisp trade I just wondered about his projected value - he was a first round pick and they are usually sought after in trades.
  19. tmw, 40 posts already - you have been busy! I guess it's better covered up, no sense in excting the members (no pun intended)
  20. sph, sean, mr c, trsitan, glad you can all be here with us this am. what a great day for a-rod to get herpes.....
  21. tmw, nice pix? what's with the towel?
  22. Hammer, snuck on in this am thanks to mr c. let's see if theo can untangle this mess. morning guns.
  23. Not a mention of murphy as part of a trade or a cf in waiting. has he just disappeared?
  24. Anyone heard from Tristan?
  25. Hi, i'm looking for Tristan - is he here?
